does infection stop antidepressants from working?

Question:
I was on Zoloft but I decreased the dose because I didn't think I needed that much (200) and then I suddenly stopped sleeping, had malaise, lost my appetite, and then got really sick with a bacterial colon infection (bloody diarrhea) and now have to take 2 antibiotics daily for another 5 days. My Zoloft doesn't seem to work anymore. So, is it the depression or the infection that brought this on? I know whenever I used to have a sinus infection, the Zoloft didn't work then either, but started again when I was better. Am hoping it works when I am over this (major) infection. Anyone have anything similar??

Answers:
I'm not sure about infection, but antibiotics can do it.
