I have just started on quetiapine 300mg a day and feel absolutely terrible?
Question:
Answers:
I take quetiapine - and when I started on it, I too was very drowsy and like in another world. Spaced out. I was told that this would happen and when the blood serum adjusts, the drowsiness goes. However, I was started on 25mg three times a day - a lot lower than you're taking.
I asked my doctor about the drowsiness and they gave the (unusual) explanation that the side effects of quetiapine are *more* when you take a lower dose. The higher the dose - the less the side effects.
I must say, I had difficulty believing this.
In any case, I suggest you go back to your doctor and ask them about reducing your dosage. Sounds like they threw you in the deep end.
By the way, I have found this drug to be *excellent*.
I'm not taking any meds right now, but it sounds to be pretty serious, in my opinion. I would talk to the doctor that perscribed it and see if it is considered a "normal reaction" or possibly if the dosage is too high, it can be lowered to a point where your body will except it better.
