my father is retired..as he was a hardcore salesman all his life.he still speaks too much which harmful to him
Question:
Answers:
Bring him to the doctor or the nearest mental health clinic. They will evaluate him, and decide if he needs medication or therapy--or both.
Get him into drinking Chamomile Tea, and use lavender scented aroma-therapy in his house. If the doctor decides on therapy and no medication, he can try using Valerian Root (which he cannot if put on tranquilizers or antidepressants). It is available in capsule form even at Walmart--and of course, at health food stores.
I have a feeling that he will be put on some sort of med if he is that anxious, but then you need to see to it that he takes it. Just being retired can be traumatic for some, he may be sure that he is of no further value in this world.
Good luck with your dad, I know that he can be helped.
Other Answers:
Hmmm.I think this depends on many factors. Is he suffering? Or are you suffering? Who feels he speaks too much? What makes you feel his talking is harmful to him? How long has he been retired? Maybe he just needs time to adjust. Have you tried asking him questions about his being retired? Maybe he would enjoy it and feel better if someone showed an interest in hearing how he feels about this massive change to his life. Giving him an outlet may be just the ticket he needs. Old habits do die hared. Can't hurt to try.
