Alcohol is a depressant. It basically nullifies the antidepressant.

Alcohol enhances the anti-depressant.in other words.it can make you go into a deep sleep or a coma.You may be too young to remember or even know who Karen Quinlan was ..she was a very young teenager in the 70's that mixed Quaaludes with alcohol.she went into a Coma and never recovered.her body went into a vegetative state.which means ..she didn't know who she was anymore.she was totally dependant on life support.that poor woman .died ..after a long battle with trying to stay alive..So don't mix alcohol with prescription drugs.

because the anti-depressant slow down ur central nervous system and as a result the respitarory nucleous on ur spinal cord might become supressed and u might stop breathing and consequently u may die o become in comma.

I started taking Celexa about 6 months ago for Anxiety. I have not a drink since. I was a very heavy partier before. I just don't ever want to feel that way ever again(Panic Attacks) So I have been to nervous to have a drink. Other than that I have never felt better or healthier for that fact in my life. You use the Alcohol,drugs etc, to mask the underlying problem. For me it was to relax. Be careful K.
