Help! I have a problem with face recognition. I sometimes cannot remember what people look like.?

Question:
I cannot remember people's faces. And sometimes I cannot even remember what my family members, best friends look like. I can recognize them if I see them, of course. But if i am alone and I try to remember what they look like, i can't do it. It's very frustrating when you miss someone and you want to remember the wonderful times you've shared. Anybody know what is going on here? What can I do to overcome this?

Answers:
Prosopagnosia, or face-blindness, is a neurological condition that renders a person incapable of recognizing faces. It is unrelated to the person's ability to see faces. Someone with perfect vision can suffer from prosopagnosia.
In the normal brain there is a center that is dedicated to face recognition. Prosopagnosia arises when that special center becomes damaged or is otherwise unable to perform its function.
