Do you think a psychiatrist is responsible if there patient commits suicide and how so?
Question:
Answers:
I am going to say no, because the psychiatrist is not with the patient all the time, and if the patient does not let the psychiatrist know how he is feeling, than the psychiatrist can't help. It is possible that the psychiatrist might be at fault, but this would not be true for all suicides.
Other Answers:
Absolutely not. That would be called homicide, I think!
Every person is responsible for their own self and no one else's decision to live or die.
Also, anyone wishing to commit suicide to make someone else feel guilty that they weren't more "helpful" to the guy that killed themself, . well, I just don't know what to say, it's such a loser thing to do.
No I don't at least not usually, patient deaths are recorded on there files though. however, if a patient is extremely unstable and threatens suicide, and the psychiatrists disregards it and the patient commits suicide, I think this information should be available to the patients and there families. and if a psychiatrist has a long list of people of people committing suicide while under their care, there should probably find a new line of work.
Legally the pschiatrist is only responsible if you can prove some type of negligence on their part. More than likely the psychiatrist is not at fault.
No I don't because suicide is group murder. Who is closer to the patient than the wife or girlfriend. Only a lover can become part of the insult that brings on death. You don't commit suicide because the mechanic ruined your car. Now when it comes to religious condemnation we can find some close enough. The witch doctors have caused a heart attack to the disciplined aborigine.
No, it the patient that is responsible. The psychiatrist does everything that they can do. They can't be there for he or she all the time though. That what friends and family are for. If they feel like commiting suicide, they should seek help immediately. No matter the time of day.
