Is sleeping 14 hours a day normal?

Question:

Answers:
Actually, not it's not healthy for the body, because you're actually depriving it of the energy & proper spacing of meals that you need per day. Sleeping that much a day can be an indicator of depression true, but it can also mean other health problems as well (I don't know you're story). I have the same issue as well, it can mean things like sleep apnea, poor sleeping habits, depression, seratonin or dopamine levels off in the brain, talk to your primary care physician, or a psychiatrist (if you haven't yet). Get checked out to make sure. Good luck, I've battled it all my life pretty much, it's hard. If you haven't had your thyroid checked, have that checked, that can ROYALLY mess up your sleeping patterns.

no
Need a little more information.

I would say that if you were a teenager that occasionally you would sleep a few nights for a period of months for that long. As teens require at least 12 hours sleep.

Is this your case? If not maybe your body is telling you something, eg: underlying illness or depression.
no. maybe you should try some vitamins and if this doesn't work see your doctor.
If you havent't slept since two days, and got yourself completely tired out (travelling, social events, too much work, stressful period, sports. whatever) - 14 hours are still okay!

If there is no special reason for it, you may ask yourself if you are not sick or something! A bad flu can also make you sleep 14 hours a day. Or asthma. if you cannot breath and sleep well, your sleep may be disturbed and you need more hours.

But if you regularly sleep 14 hours a day, there is something wrong. it cannot happen, actually - your body will simply say NO MORE SLEEP!
