i need advice on good bi-polar medicine?

Question:

Answers:
I'm taking 100mg Seroquel at night to help me sleep and stabilize my mood. I also take 20mg Paxil in the morning to ease my depression. This combination seems to be working well for me. Caution: medications and people are not always equal. What works for one may not work for others. Be patient in your treatment. It may take several attempts and many months to find the medication(s) and/or dosage(s) that work best for you. Work with your doctor closely. Keep him/her informed about your symptoms and their severity. The same goes for side effects. Don't exaggerate. Complete and accurate communication between you and your doctor is is essential for the best treatment.

Sincerely,
Terry

Lithium is a good mood stabilizer its been used for years with peope who have bipolar disorder.
There are so many out there. I was prescribed three or four before they found a good one for me. If you have severe bi-polar, you may need a combination of medications to have an effect. The best advice I can give is to talk to a psychiatrist.
The two first choices for mood stabilizers are
1) Lithium
2) Depakote

Some doctors add on an antidepressant and others do not like to. Some doctors use other mood stabilizers. Doctors may treat with Atypical antipsychotics some have fda aprroval for bipolar disorder. They may also treat with medications for anxiety or sleep. It all depends on what else is going on with a particular patient.

I am Bi-polar and I have been on a combination of medicines. I've been on them 6 months. This is the best I've felt, no side effects! The combination is: Trilectal 1200 mg a day plus abilify 30 mg a day and lurica 300 mg a day. My moods are steady they are not up and down. They are balanced and my depression has decreased. I wish you the best! Hugs!
I am probably the most bi polar person around! LOL.....
Seriously though I am on Lamictal, Wellbutrin, Seroquel.
I think Lithium is a bad choice. It is one of the 1st drugs on the market 4 bi polar peeps. There are far better meds now w/o all the dreadfull side efx.
Good Luck ! Ciao-Ciao
you dont chose your medication... doctors do. Let them do their work. Jeez.
If you don't mind the risk of weight gain, I recommend a mixture of lithium carbonate and clonazepam... Just don't take too many of the latter or you may just forget who you are.
