how would you approach an resident, perhap. with dementia who was behaving in an unusually aggressive manner?

Question:
im going for an interview to work with the elderly i have got an answer in mind but id like possibly a second opinion.

Answers:
i used to work in an alzheimers community. i wasn't a nurse, but they would tell me about times when inappropriate stuff was going on. they said that they just either ignored it, or distracted the person. most of the time they don't know what they are doing anyway, so it's best to either ignore it & start looking interested in something else so that they get interested in it; or you just get them distracted. there was a lady who was always trying to kiss other ladies. there was a guy who would always pat others' butts. there's always going to be the expectation that someone is out of line.they are older people, but are as kids.only kids don't know all the 'dirty' stuff as older people do.and since the older people know it all, they use it without a second thought, just like a child.

Other Answers:
Just be calm not too cheerful .And always with another person
