Getting married w/ a bipolar disorder is not a big deal.It is important to be aware that it runs along family lines, though. Realistically, who doesn't have some kind of negative something to pass to their kids?

Other Answers:
Heres what I think: Yes, bipolar people can enjoy sex. Hell, they can live just fine, especially with proper and up-to-date medication. I find it intresting that almost 1 in. 10? I believe? canadians have some sort of mental disorder, and almost all live perfectly normal lives. This goes the same for bipolar people. Jim Carrey, I believe, has bipolar, and so do some other celeraties (sp?).

BUT! Do not just follow my advice - go to a therapist and/or a doctor.
It depends. It is important to work with a physician who can help the person to find medication that works on the symptoms. Some medications can interfere with the sex drive or in males, cause erectile dysfunction. However, there are treatments that can help with these things. Marriage is fine. It is important for the partner to understand the nature of bipolar disorder. Like any other chronic condition, such as hypertension or diabetes, bipolar disorder requires good management at home and in the doctor's office. Continued therapy is important because medications can indeed become ineffective after time, requirement a change in dosage or a change to another medication.
Yeah a person with Bipolar can get married and enjoy sex. But the bad thing about Bipolar is that if the person has a history of violence or anger that Bipolar can make the feelings much worst.
I think you should be able to. Probably not.
The disorder itself doesn't have anything to do with whether or not you enjoy sex, but the medication sure as hell does. I'm bipolar 1, and for a long time took Depecote, Prozac and some anti-psychotic I can't remember the name of. I wound up with the sex drive of a door knob. It took months to recover after the doctor changed me over to Lemictal and Welbutron, and dropped the anti-psychotic. There are no issues with getting married, except finding somebody who'll put up with a bipolar, There is, however, an issue with having children. Bipolar disorder is hereditary. I passed it on to my daughter. And, finally, yes, the medications become ineffective after time. What's more, you can not stop taking the stuff for a while and be sure it will work as well as it had when you start again. It's why the doctor switched me. It certainly wasn' because he gave a damn about my sex life.
yes, persons WHO suffer from bipolar can enjoy sex.but he is in severe depression, he shows reluctance in participating inter course and if he is in hyper mania state, he likes his partner more sex. the medicines will not become ineffective after a long period of use. but they are to be taken as per the prescription of the doctor. any how it is always better to consult the psychiatrist, whether it is advisable to cohabit ate when the patient is in severe violent moods.
We all enjoy sex in our way. Bipolar means there is a dysfunction mentally over sex and love concerns. Solving the bipolar issues about sexual matters will allow recovery. The bipolar person will have to overcome being an outsider all their life. Emotional stress will be high but the sexual fantasies will be high too. Marriage will be short lived for most of bipolars as only another bipolar can understand them.
Well, here's the deal. My clinical director, a great physician told me that patients with bipolar disease have better sex than anyone!! Something to do with the chemicals. The most important thing is to take the medicines. He will live a very productive life if he takes his medicines. If for some reason they stop working, the psychiatrist will up his meds. Thats' the purpose of reevaluation.
Any issues if he gets married ?

Well, from family experience..let whoever he marries, handle ALL the bills, money & credit cards, etc. Really.. My mom is Bipolar.and when she goes off the deep end, she blows money like it's Niagra Falls ( and it's NOT ) :-( She'd have a good life, if she wouldn't take out her symptoms with money..
All bipolar iz that u get mad fucken over nuthin..( my daddyz bipoler) & hellz yeah u can still enjoy sex
I am a woman, and I am type II Bipolar.
Depending on the medication you take. (I currently do not take any for the Bipolar disorder), but the anti-depressants definitely deplete the sex drive. Unfortunately with women, there is no Viagra.
Depending on the depth of the Mania and the medication you take for it, discuss with your doctor the side effects of sexual pleasure.
Most if not all medications your body eventually become immune to. Most of the time, doses are raised, and on occasion medications have to be changed.
As I mentioned, your best answers will come from your doctor. Do not be embarrassed to ask him/her face to face. That is what they are there for.
