Should I be afraid?

Question:
I fell like I'm depressed or stressed out I can't sleep at night I don't do nothing, I just can't get myself going to do anything. I cry a lot more then I should, I just fell so tired all the time. I want to go to the doctors and ask about it but I'm afraid my doctor is going to think I'm crazy and try to take my daughter away or something to that nature. What should I do? I am on 20mg of prozac a day but I have not been taking it late should I just wait and see if that will start working again because it use to work until I stoped taking it. HELP PLEASE!

Answers:
You say you are afraid your daughter will be taken away but ask yourself how safe it is for her if you cannot function properly? If you care for your daughter's health, you will seek help. You really need to see a psychiatrist but I'd maybe start with something like a crisis help line in your area just to get an idea of better outlets of professionals to talk to (unless you can find those on your own). Remember: shrinks cannot rat you out.

i think u better visite the doctor!just to make sure
Take your medicine, see your doctor, you may need a different dosage. He wont think you are crazy, most doctors and mental health professionals applaud your efforts to deal with these problems, they wont punish you for it. Take your medicine and then take a deep breath..it will be ok.
GET BACK ON YOUR PILLS...

Well, your problems may sound traumatic to you, but actually this isn't that horrible. You do indeed need to go talk to a doctor, but if you just say what's on your mind, I'm sure he will prescribe some better medication to help you deal with some of this stuff. It won't instantly help, but eventually you will see a change. Been taking Effexor for over a month now. Just now seeing some progress, but it's been worth it.
Get back on your meds. Otherwise, see your doc and see if your body has gotten used to it.you may need a different prescription.
you should start or stop taking that type of medications unless your Dr tells you to so you need to go see him/her regardless of what he/she will say. Or how scared you are, Dr. don't judge you in that way. Just go see him/her if you are this worried about your own mental health.
if it was working why did you stop taking it? Depression is a sickness.. it needs to be treated.. if you know you have it and have been prescribed something to help you with it. Maybe you should talk to your doctor again.. tell him that you stopped taking it and tell him how you are feeling..
Do not stop taking it until you see a doctor. People react differently to different medications. Maybe you just need to switch to something that better suits you. And they will not take your child away unless there is something else your not telling us..
Resume you Prozac and go see your doctor ASAP. I used to suffer from depression related to bi-polar, but I finally got treatment (medication), and my life is so much better now!
see the doct,,,,,,,
you do need to see your doc on a regular basis and he will tell you when you are well enough to stop your meds. Give him a call and tell him you stopped and you feel bad and he will advise you how to continue. He won't be mad or give you a hard way to go - its surely something hes had to deal with before.
sounds like a case of clinical depression, they won't take your child away for that but you should get treatment for it so you can feel better, it will make your daughter happier to cause you will not be so down in the dumps and will be nicer to her and wanna do more with her. You should get a better medication that prozac I hear it makes you tired. Effexor XR always works great for me, it helps with bad nerves too if you have them. There are other ones too, but ones that make you tired should be avoided.

I suffer from depression
What is wrong with you. You need to start back taking your medicine, for you and your daughter safety. You not crazy just extremely depressed. Sounds like you on the verge of a nervous breakdown. You really need to see a doctor. PLEASE go for you and you child's safety. PLEASE!!
I think you should be afraid. All of us go through phases of depression and hopelessness. Its best that you go and get help now before things hit the fan. Prozac is not a solution, it becomes an addiction and sooner or later, its not going to do no any good to you since your body might just become immune to it. Go seek help..QUICK
see your doctor soon
You should/must go see a doctor. You shouldn't be afraid because the doctor is there to help you not judge you. Good luck with your situation. =)
Please ilsten to me..you are not crazy. Lots of people suffer from similar things everyday..myself included. You need to ask yourself why you stopped taking your meds. If they weren't working, seemed to make matters worse or just didn't settle right with you then you need to tell your doctor that. There are lots of medications out there and it takes awhile to find the right one for you. Don't be afraid to talk with him/her about this. They will not take your kids away. I would also suggest getting a psych doctor instead of using your family physician. Mental disorders cover a large area and are sometimes very tricky. A psych doctor is better trained and in my opinion they will be able to offer you better and more detailed help. I am 31 and have two teens. I also have manic depression, anxiety, panic and bipolar disorder. It's very hard to deal with at first but the right mix of meds and a little hard work on your behalf will do wonders. I'm not saying it will go away completely but you will feel much better and will know how to handle those periods where you find yourself down more than usual. Take care.
I'm going through this as well, and i have been for 3 years now. I'm only 22. Exactly what you described above is what it felt like for me. I Lost interest in things. I wasn't motivated to do anything, i just felt like i was wasting away. I couldn't sleep, i wasn't able to, and when i was, i instantly woke up cause i felt like i was dying. It wasn't pretty.

Now, my girlfriend's on Prozac, 20mg's. And, she's going through the same thing. When she takes it, she's alright. But, if she misses a dose, or, just doesn't take it - she starts feeling like crap - like she's worthless and doesn't belong.

I know what it's like to have to go to the doctor and tell him "Ya know, i feel like this, and it sucks"..trust me, i've been there, and i know how un-fun it really is. But, yes, you should be CONCERNED, not Afraid. NEVER be afraid.

Nobody's gonna think you're crazy - and they shouldn't take your kid, expecially if you're seeking help. Sure, i could see if you were gonna harm her, but, if you're no threat to her, then, no, that won't happen.

What i can offer is this: Get checked out ASAP, or things will just get worse, and start declining. You might not ever be a threat to your daughter, but, that doesn't mean that you won't be a threat to yourself.

I've been there, done that, and i'm still going through it. I've heard bad things about Prozac, and i've seen the bad side of it as well. I might be on 4 meds, but, they do control the Anxiety and the depression. Don't feel you're ever alone in this, because you're not, and you won't ever be. And, hey, ya know.if ya need to talk, i'm here =) I don't open myself up to many people, but, i do know what you're going through and experiencing.

Like i said, get help ASAP. Because the more you put it off, the more damage will be done.
Take the meds. Insomnia and subsequent daytime tiredness is common side effect. Keep taking the meds and make an appointment to reevaluate you. You probably saw you GP. You need to get refered to a mental therapist who can better treat you.
How old are you? You need to keep taking your pills and never stop unless you can tell that they have stopped working. If they do go back to the doctor and get something else. You do need some help especially if you are having suicidal thoughts. Or I have found that yoga works very wel if you do not like taking pills.
Yes.. take your medicine. People start feeling better when they take there medicine on a regular basis and then don't feel they need it anymore because they feel good. Keep taking it all the time. Go to your doctor and tell him/her you need a higher dose on your prozak. Tell him/her it's not working anymore. Your body can get used to the dose your taking and maybe it's time to get it increased. Definitly talk to your doctor. They won't take your child away, they will just try to help you. Good luck and GOD BLESS>
Take your medicine and see the doctor.

And don't worry about your child being taken away: A lot of people are on medication who raise their children and otherwise tend their families.

If the doctor is a professional, he won't say anything like 'you're crazy'. After all, he is supposed to be there to help people who need help.
First of all, you're not crazy. Second, you shouldn't have stopped taking the prozac without telling your doctor. Start taking it again pronto and make an appointment to see your doctor; your dosage may need to be increased. You should also get a referral from your doc to a therapist to help you sort out your feelings and get help dealing with your stresses. I am in the same situation; I have been dealing with depression for years and am feeling better because I have gotten my medication adjusted and have gotten help. God bless you and good luck!
WHO PRESCRIBED THE PROZAC IN THE FIRST PLACE. DID A PSYCHIATRIST EVER EVALUATE YOU? YOU NEED TO SEEK TREATMENT FROM A TRAINED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL, NOW. BECAUSE IF YOUR WORST FEAR IS THE STATE TAKING YOUR DAUGHTER AWAY. NOT GETTING ANY TREATMENT OR THE RIGHT TREATMENT WILL PROBABLY MAKE THAT HAPPEN. AS LONG AS SHE IS NOT BEING ABUSED OR NEGLECTED THEY HAVE NO GROUNDS TO TAKE HER FROM YOU. YOU ARE ENTITLED TO SEEK AND RECEIVE TREATMENT FOR YOUR DISORDER WITH FEAR OF ANY REPERCUSSIONS FROM THE STATE. HOWEVER , AND LET ME BE CLEAR ON THIS NOTE. UNTREATED DEPRESSION CAN LEAD TO SEVERE DEPRESSION , SEVERE DEPRESSION CAN LEAD TO A COMPLETE BREAKDOWN. SEVERE DEPRESSION WILL RESULT IN YOU NEGLECTING YOUR CHILD, A BREAKDOWN WILL RESULT IN YOU NEGLECTING YOUR CHILD A POSSIBLE COMMITMENT TO A PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL, AND THEN THE FEAR OF LOOSING YOUR CHILD WILL BECOME A REALITY. PLEASE GET EVALUATED AND TREATMENT NOW. YOU BOTH WILL BE GLAD YOU DID.
First of all stopping the Prozac cold turkey could be part of your problem. I had to do the same thing due to a loss of insurance. I was a friggin' basket-case for a little while. Talk to your doctor and tell him what is going on. Not only for your sake but for the sake of your daughter. You need to be stable so you can take good care of her. They are not going to take a child away because the mother is depressed if she is seeking help. If the Prozac was working then the doc. will probably suggest you start taking it again. Don't lose hope remember Prozac is not a miracle drug that takes effect immediately. It takes time to get back into your system and really start working again.
