i hate having to start over?

I hate starting over too. It means going over old ground that you want to move on from and you never know if you are going to click with them or not. Some are definately better than others but it is not really rational for you to say that the new therapist will not understand your problems.
As you know, it always takes time to get to know each other and for you to feel comfortable with them. The depth of your problems are exposed in layers. When you first see someone new you tend to talk about superficial stuff and as you gain trust and a comfortable raport you peel off another layer and expose a bit more of yourself and what makes you tick.
This will take time but if the new therapist is at the clinic where you have been seeing other practitioners, they will have a file about you. If this is the case, your new therapist will have access to it and you may be able to start closer to where you finished with the last one.
No one is forcing you to go and you have the power to cancel out of it if you want to. So don't be depressed, just try to remember why you are putting yourself through therapy in the first place. It is to help get your mind sorted out and to find a little peace within yourself. You'll be fine. Chin up. :-}

Why would the therapist not understand? Isn't that why he/she went to school for?
I think you should sit down with pencil and paper and write a list of the issues that bother you the most so you can have your concerns clear in your mind when you go to the appointment.
Remember, this is your health you are concerned about and you deserve to be heard. But you won't be helped if you go in with a cluttered mind.
It's sad but often when you go to therapy, you only want to hear positive responses. Too often, you are encouraged to change some of the ways you think and feel. You don't want to do that, so you think the therapy isn't working. It is.you just don't want to change. That's the hardest part. I think blue is right, see it as a journey for yourself as well. Dont underplay yourself or your therapist by bringing your negative luggage of prior encounters - look on it like a child does - new and refreshed.
