I am extremely sensitive to noises. It is ruining my life. What disorder do I have? Please read details.?

Question:
Every apartment I live in I have terrible problems. I mean this is to the point of insanity. And before you say, "move to a house" you must realize that I cannot afford this option in this terribly expensive Florida market right now. I am super super sensitive to noise around me. It is ruining my life because I cannot sleep. Especially if I hear even one bang next door through the wall by my bed. I think about it all night listening for a loud bang. Anticipating the bang that would have woke me up out of my light paranoid sleep. I have a noise machine, a loud fan, earplugs, use tylenol PM, etc. Nothing works. Absolutely nothing. My body hurts so bad from years of poor rest or no rest. Could someone please tell me what disorder I have. Everyone i know tells me that this is a disorder but nobody knows how to label it. It is very real and terrifying to me. And this is one of the only things in life that bothers me. Otherwise i am quite laid back and carefree. What disorder do i have?

Answers:
You have acousticophobia. You stated that you are laid back and carefree. Sounds like a paradox. Fear of noise would not make me laid back and carefree. Maybe you need to exercise more and get your adrenaline going. You mentioned that you have used earplugs. Those things need to be properly inserted so they will shut out noise, and apparently that is not happening. Keep trying.

Let's see. This is just a wild guess, but you need to take the time to find QUIET place to live. THE END.
Try Lorazepam(ativan) you may have ANXIETY DISORDER...this med will help you relax...also try ear plugs ..that will shut out the noise of the neighbors
Acousticophobia
why not go to a Dr. to find out what the problem is ?
It could be a # of things. It might be anxiety or
you might have auditory problems, people w/ both
have the symptoms you mentioned. Please, if possible see a Dr. Good luck
I'm no doctor, but it sounds like anxiety to me. I would suggest that you talk to a doctor and perhaps he would give you an anti-anxiety medicine and perhaps a sleeping medicine as well. Tylenol PM doesn't work for me either. Good luck!
