Hi,
I don't know your friend, or what type of person she is or how old she may be. It is possible that she is suffering from schizophrenia, or it could be drug use, meth makes people very paranoid, not sure what else it could be, since it seems to have come on suddenly. I think that you are right to stay away. What ever the reason, you don't need to be involved with someone who could potentially be harmful.
Good luck.

She can only change if she is willing to change.
No matter how good your intentions are or how long you dedicate yourself to help someone with paranoia, she can change only if she is open and willing to change.
It is nice of you to care about the other person, bless your heart, Priestess.
This friend has serious low self-esteem problems. She obviously feels that she is at the bottom in the circle of friends. This could be due to one person treating her badly or somenone saying something to her that hurt her deeply. Or she could just be experiencing a crossroads in her life where she is questioning her own achievements and probably feels that everyone is doing better than her. Give her time. Let her bide her time and then slowly reapproach her with a coffee invite etc. Dont' raise anything that has happened recently and most importantly don't undermine any of her feelings or phobias. If you respect her and take her seriously she herself will realise her foibles.
