iam not asleepo because of bipolar?

Question:
can any one help

Answers:
If you're on Trazadone for sleep it is safe to take up to about 300mg or more. (You should consult your Doctor, [required by law to insert this otherwise it is called practicing medicine w/o a license.] )
There are several food supplements that are safe and effective. Melatonin, your body produces it, it is the main hormone regulating sleep/wake cycles. There is a prescription sleep medicine, remeron, that works in the same way that natural melatonin works. Melatonin is available in the vitamin and supplement section at places like wal-Mart, Walgreeen's and CVS.
L-Trytophan, this amino acid is a precursor for serotonin, disturbances in serotonin have been associated with depression and bipolar disorder and sleep disturbances. L-trytophan may not be available separately in your area (banned in US because a foreign manufacturer slipped up and included a minute amount of a poisonous chemical they were using in processing actually in the supplement. No one died but a few dozen people --out of hundreds of thousands of people taking L-Tryptophan -- got very sick with a rare muscle disorder.) Milk and turkey are both rich in L-tryptophan. Heating milk causes more L-trytophan to be released from milk protein into a form your body can use easier. A turkey sandwich washed down with real cocoa or warm milk can work. Some protein and/or amino acid supplements are rich in Tryptophan, but are not adequately labeled to let you know how much is in each.
Finally, Celestial Seasonings make an herbal tea called "sleep time plus", it has Valerian in it which is an effective anti-anxiety herb. (Several early anti-anxiety medicines were refined from the Valerian plant.) Chamomile is another herb that is an effective muscle relaxer and helps many people sleep, it is also good for cramps, especially in women. You can get it as a tea or as an ingredient in teas that have several herbs.

With any herbal you should let your doctor know you are taking it, there are a few known interactions between herbals and prescription medicines. To the best of my knowledge, all of the supplements mentioned above are safe with one another and with commonly prescribed bi-polar meds like: lamictal, wellbutrin, depakote, trazadone. If you take lithium DO NOT use any of the above without checking with a doctor or pharmacist FIRST!

What ever else you do avoid mental stimulation or exercise once you lie down to sleep. Do not lie in bed for more than an hour trying to fall asleep. Try getting up and reading a text book instead. (Works very well for college students.)
Do not use the bed for anything other than sleep or sexual activities. (Oh, yeah as implied above sexual activities make many people sleepy afterward. This is because of the rush of neurochemicals that occur at orgasm which produce pleasure, a sense of well-being and relaxation in most people.)

ABOVE ALL DO NOT GET ON YAHOO! *ANSWERS AND START ANSWERING A BUNCH OF QUESTIONS.
