Hey, It'll be o.k. brotha, I used to have depression too, and yes, I know how it feels, it feels like a b-right? Don't worry man, just try what I did, go outside more(After you recuperate), try to be with good friends, be happy more, watch a movie, watch Comedy Central if you need some laughs man, But, what I recommend you is to take those pills, you'll get better after maybe a couple of weeks into it, O.k? Be good.

Well it happens if your stressed or you do to many tihngs all in a row. Maybe your 2 busy.
Exercise can reduce depression if you are adverse to taking medication. It affects the levels of serotonin which is what is usually decreased when you are depressed. Working out and going for walks etc. is also a great way to meet people thus increasing the possibility of finding a partner or even just great new friends.
It could be that you may need the meds. You might have a chemical imbalance. Thats what the meds are for.
But it could be due to the fact that you don't have a partner. I feel that way a lot myself. I'm all alone with no friends where I live. And there are days when I don't feel like doing anything but laying in the bed. I go to school full time so thats one of the things that I look forward to. Do you always feel sad no matter what? If so, I recommend you see a psychiatrist and they will be able to help you out, even if you don't need meds. I've done it for years and believe me, it helps.
you really need profesional help. You dont have to take any Meds..but maybe talking about it with a Doctor might make you feel better.. Just smile and try to be happy! life is short and everyday is a blessing!
I, likewise, used to suffer with depression. Took meds, but found that condition didn't approve with them. I'd suggest trying to notice the beauty of the small things in your life. Easier said than done. Try to wake up every morning and encourage yourself to have a great day. Really helped me. Find support with a friend/relative that understands what you're going through. Hope everything will get better with you!
Please seek professional help! That's really the only way you can get through this. Talking to a professional will help, they can give you techniques that work to solve your problems and also tell you ways to approach new situations. Get your family and friends involved. If you are part of a religious organization, spiritual guidance is healing and can give you new hopes. I hope you feel better soon!
OK I understand that you don't want to take meds. However, if there is no legitimate reasoning behind your depression (i.e. stress, loss of a loved one etc.) there is a possibility that you have a chemical imbalance in your brain. Unfortunately, that means meds. Talk to a counselor. Depression is a horrible thing to go through life dealing with if you have other options. If someone told you that you were diabetic would you refuse insulin? Probably not. So why is it so hard for people to accept something not functioning properly in their brain (it is an organ like any other) and taking medication. All I am suggesting is to be open minded to all types of treatment if they can increase your quality of life. Hope things get better for you.
I know this might sound lame, but a pet cat or dog could be the answer. Dogs really need you, cats are a bit more independent. I have two cats and a dog. There will be a partner out there waiting for you as well . . just be paitent . . it worked for me.
You may have endogenous depression, which is the one that comes "from within" and not as a reaction to a situation. It has to do with the brain chemistry. Or, as you say, maybe you feel lonely. Maybe a therapist can help you find a partner, or just try to do it on your own. Join an online dating website, take a class, go to the park and practice and sport and maybe you'll meet somebody. Exercising will produce endorphins, which are the "happy" substances.
