I Have No Appetite Due To My Depression - How Do I Force Myself To Eat Agian?

Question:
Its getting kind of hard. I drink water and sometimes other things, but I'm not hungry in the least.

Answers:
First off, I have been in your shoes. I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder. At my worst, I wouldn't eat, and no one could force me to. I finally go the courage to seek help, I don't know whether or not you have done that. If you haven't I suggest you do. I'm by no means trying to preach, but since I went to my doctor and was prescribed and anti-depressant, I have begun to eat again. Things that I couldn't force myself to do I now can. I have finally gotten to the point that I no longer have to take the medicine and my life is great. I promise you that things can and will get better, just try to get some help and know that time heals all wounds.

You force it down.Just eat soft foods and sweets. I like mashed potatoes, oatmeal, puddings. Just think of soft stuff and any kind of sweet. Drink tea or sodas with sugar. I mean it's not healthy but it's better then nothing!

try carnation instant breakfast or soup, maybe it'll be easier to drink something, they have nutrients and you could take some vitamins, just to make sure you are getting enough nutrients suggesting an ayurvedic remedy ifyou can get it online: Lavan Bhaskar Churna: 1/4 tsp to be taken at beginning of food. IF do not like taste, mix it in honey and take.
For depression, take 11 leaves tulsi leaves, 1/2 tsp ginger powder and boil for 15 minutes in 1 cup water. aff crystal sugar and drink. Repeat three times a day.

I can relate to you because I had severe post partum depression, and post distress disorder.I advise you not to try to push food in yourself, but to find what triggers this anorexia on you and them try to avoid this triggers, it means try to find what happens right before you feel the disgust for food.

Once a day if you can afford it go to the fast food place for a shake. You wont die and you might just feel better.

well try to lower down the amount of liquids ur drinking.try to eat things that u like try appetizers and sweets .eat things with sugar since they drive the person to eat(ice cream, chocolate bars.)burgers, pizza's and such things since they increase the apetite. or if u have favourite shows on tv try to eat something whiol watching to make urself more entertained and have fun(a bowl of popcorn or chips or 1 liter of icecream is good to work it all out) Me too, Plus Im tired & weak to cook, So I eat easy to swollow foods like, yogurt, applesauce

Are you getting support? Firstly you must see your GP and get a referral to a good psychiatrist. If you are already receiving treatment many anti depressants can cause loss of appetite and you made need to change your medication.
Secondly be kind to yourself drink as much fluid as you can and try things like smoothies and soup which require little effort to eat!
Don't force yourself just try to do some small thing you like every day such as read a chapter of a book, go for a walk etc.
Confide in a good friend and take care

You really need to get some help with your depression, I am sure that there are millions of other depression sufferers out there, I was very depressed a few years ago and I know you do not feel like getting help, but there is no shame in depression, it is an illness and can be treated very successfully. If you really cannot face eating, try Miso soup, it is delicious and very nutritious. Once you can stomach light things like that, try smoothies and milk shakes, you will be getting the calories and energy you need for your body to function and heal itself. I hope that you feel better soon, and please, speak to your doctor, it is the first step to helping yourself get well again, you can do it. i've gone thru depressions where i've lost my appetite and lost weight so i know what you're going thru. you don't feel hungry and nothing tastes good. you have to force yourself to eat small amounts several times a day and don't drink too much water cuz it makes you feel full. the most important thing is to seek help and don't stop until you find an effective treatment for your depression. left untreated depression often lingers and becomes more severe.

First and foremost get to the root of the problem. This being your depression itself. Talk to someone and get help. Now as for what to do in the meantime I can only tell you what I do and maybe it will work for you as well. When I get really depressed or stressed I have a total loss of appetite as well. Be sure you are taking a multi~vitamin. Try to force one or two bites of something down. Something is better than nothing. I also buy the Walmart brand of Slim Fast and drink those. (not as a weight loss method) They actually contain a lot of vitamins and minerals and the calorie content is nothing to sneeze at either. I am sure Ensure would be a good alternative but I don't like the taste. Also I can not stress enough the importance of getting professional help. This can lead to an eating disorder without you even realizing it. It becomes a control issue. When you feel you can not control anything else in your life but you can control the food. It sounds silly but it happens. Trust me! Been there done that! SEE A DOC. GET HELP! Hope things get better for you.

Wickedness, injustice, grief, pessimism, trouble, loneliness, fear, stress, frustration, distrust, unscrupulousness, anxiety, rage, jealousy, resentment, drug addiction, immorality, gambling, prostitution, hunger, poverty, social corruption, theft, war, struggle, violence, oppression, fear of death… News about these issues appear in the newspapers and on TV every day. The popular press devotes entire pages to these subjects, while others serialise articles about their psychological and social aspects. However, our acquaintance with these feelings is not limited solely to the press; in daily life, we, too, frequently come across such problems and, more importantly, personally experience them.
People and societies endeavour to liberate themselves from the distressing experiences, disorder and repressive social structures that have prevailed over the world for long periods. We only need to glance at ancient Greece; the Great Roman Empire; Tsarist Russia, or the so-called Age of Enlightenment, and even the 20th century-a century of misery which saw two world wars and world-wide social disasters. No matter upon which century or location you concentrate your research, the picture will not be appreciably different.
If this is the case, why haven't people succeeded in solving these problems, or at least some efforts been made to remove such social diseases from society?
People have encountered these problems in all ages, yet each time they have failed to find any solutions because the methods they employed were inappropriate. They sought various solutions, tried different political systems, laid down impracticable and totalitarian rules, stirred up revolutions or subscribed to perverted ideologies, while many others preferred to adopt an indifferent attitude and merely accepted the status quo.
In our day, people are almost numbed by this way of living. They readily believe these problems to be "facts of life." They picture a society immune to these problems as being nothing short of impossible-a dream utopia. They persistently and openly express their distaste for such a way of living, yet easily embrace it, since they think they have no other alternative.
The resolution of all these problematic issues is possible only by living by the principles of the "true religion." Only when the values of true religion prevail can a pleasant and tranquil scene replace this gloomy and unfavourable picture, which is doomed to continue so long as God's limits are ignored. To put it another way, people are enslaved by these complications as long as they avoid the values of the Qur'an. Put simply, this is the "nightmare of disbelief" and the link below for this wonderful book:

http://harunyahya.net/popup/Download.php?WorkNumber=256&Format=pdf

you will find how the regulation of life by the "norms of morality" introduced by the Qur'an revealed to mankind by God will banish the "nightmare of disbelief," how pessimism, corruption and social restlessness can be eliminated from society, how the individual can surround himself with an ideal environment, what spiritual and material benefits he is likely to attain by adherence to these norms of morality are gone into in detail, and finally, that the unique alternative to all these problems is the morality of the Qur'an.
So far, many books have attempted to deal with the social and psychological problems societies face. Yet, what distinguishes this book from others is its stress on the most realistic solution. It also sincerely warns people against the troublesome future they are likely to face if they fail to resort to this solution.
We expect that every reader of conscience will grasp that peace, mutual trust and an ideal social life is attainable only by embracing the values of the Qur'an and will turn to the true religion, which is Islam.
They will then happily join the ranks of those who never suffer, mentally or physically, from any of the above-mentioned complications. Around them, there will always be an abundance of favours, comfort, love, respect, peace and confidence, and moral virtues will prevail. They will know how to earn God's approval, by observing His limits and the commandments of the Qur'an. They will thus, by having faith in God, attain His mercy and at last enter Paradise.
