Dreams....?
Question:
I ask because I've never really had dreams very much, but the past couple of months I've been having multiple dreams every night.
Maybe I just have too much on my mind?
Answers:
Dreams, under most psychologists' reasoning nowadays, are the way that the brain replays and/or works out problems and situations from your daily life. If you have a sudden surge of activity, a new problem or challenge, or a change in your life, it's common to go from not dreaming much at all to dreaming a whole lot.
Medication and certain foods can also alter how much you dream and what you dream about, so maybe watch your food intake before you go to sleep.
It is true that most people dream every night and you can't remember some of them -- most of them -- but it doesn't have anything to do with the significance of the dreams. Some dreams last only seconds and happen when you are too deeply asleep to remember them. Honestly, the dreams you remember most don't necessarily have any special message -- they are just the ones you have in your more shallow stages of sleep or closer to when you woke up!
If you are taking medicaion before you go to bed, it may trigger excessive dreaming. I used to take aspirin before I went to bed because I would dream after taking it, and I liked to dream. Also, a change in diet may cause it. My wife has nightmares after eating pork.
