If you sleep heaps do you grow taller?

Question:
If your 15 and sleep 8 hours plus cos i only get 7 hours sleep a day

Answers:
no this not true

Other Answers:
No. Increase your intake of calcium, take vitamins, eat healthy and work out. This will promote healthy bone structure, however sleep does help your body repair, and helps heal muscle/skin injuries
It is true that your muscles don't grow while you are working out, they grow while you are sleeping.
No but if you stand in potting compost and water yourself for a year you will certainly grow!!
u grow in sleep-is true.but sleep will help in growing is only true in the case of infants.once u are above 5yrs the diet u take,ur hormones and the activity u do determines ur growth.now that u r 15 u need loads of healthy food-which should esp. contain calcium, protein, vitamins and minerals.don't concentrate on junk food.play a lot-games like basket ball, volley ball etc were u require to jump and throw, and jerk ur whole body or u can hang to a rod or a tree stump, and a healthy, positive mentality aslo helps in good growth.good luck.
Answer #1 and #3 are correct. Your muscles can grow at other times than when you sleep and muscle development by itself has nothing to do with how tall you get. Primarily how tall you get depends on how much Human Growth Hormone your body produces. This pretty much depends on genetics (the mix of DNA that happened when your Dads sperm fertilized your Moms ovum).

Your sleep, nutrition, calcium intake, and weight bearing exercise(walking or jogging) do determine how healthy and strong your bones will be. People need 4 glasses of milk, or milk substitute, a day during they're growing years, and 3 glasses for the rest of your life.

Every thing I've written so far is hard medical fact, what I'm about to write is somewhat speculative. Although it's Human Growth Hormone that determines how tall you grow, milk contains Bovine Growth Hormone,(bovine means, having to do with cows and bulls). We know that some non human hormones can affect humans. Insulin injections used to be made from pig insulin(for diabetes). BGH is naturally in milk because the calves need it to grow. Does BGH affect humans and cause them to grow taller than they would if they didn't drink milk? I think that probably it does. Fortunately, you need to drink the milk anyway.

I hope this answers some of your questions.
