I use to..?

Question:
When I was around 7 years old to 12 I always had to pin up my collars on my shirts when I wore them to where it looked like a turtle neck. I always had to do that because it felt wierd not to. And I had to tie my shoes really tight to where my feet would fall asleep during class. I finally stopped doing those things but what do you think it was? Why did I do those things?

Answers:
Almost all kids have rituals. It's a way of exhibiting control over a world that they don't feel very in control of. I'm no psychologist or anything, but I would say that since they didn't really interfere with your day to day functioning (well, maybe tying your shoes so tight your feet fell asleep interfered with your functioning a little, but not so much that you were having problems in school or anything, right?), those were just your routines, and that they were pretty much normal! Especially since you stopped them on your own. I'm assuming you didn't pick up any other habits in their place, so I would say that you just experienced a normal phase of growing up!

Other Answers:
u r use to it

Maybe obsessive compulsive disorder? maybe it's just a glitch in growing. doesn't really matter.

cauz u got use 2 doin dat type of stuff & u probably thought it was cool..

it's your mind functioning to pain so much you have grown use to it and if you do it again in future you will go back to that old mentality.

there is a possiblity that maby you did it to feel secure, and insecure when you didn't do it, alot of people feel confined like that, but it sounds like you wanted the opposite,, mabe security? It sounds to me like you have Sensory Integration Disorder. This is a real thing. Look up the Patty Wilbarger Deep Pressure Touch Brushing Program on the web to learn more about doing a brushing technique to help with this problem. It is possible that the tags were bothering you (shirt collars up) and the seams on the socks were also bothering you (shoes tied tight). You were compensating for this feeling by doing what you knew would help stop the irritating feeling. Brushing techniques can help with this problem immensely. Look it up.
