Lexapro question?

Question:
I have been on Lexapro for 6 days now. I cannot tell if I feel any different. What do I need to look for??
Any expierience ? No side effects though for me, just some nausea but not bad. I hope that will subside.

Answers:
Lexapro is part of the SSRI (selective seretonin reuptake inhibitor) family of drugs. Seretonin is also responsible for the nausea reflex in the body. These type of drugs take from 2 to 3 weeks to start working effectively, so you'll need to hang in there. As for the nausea, it will settle. If it hasn't settled within a month go back to the prescriber and let him/her know. Never stop taking this drug abruptly.
It takes 2 weeks to reach therapeutic levels with antidepressants. You need to be patient and give it time. This is with any of them--not just Lexapro.
