i've studied and taught several martial arts over the past 24 yrs. for what you are looking for i suggest Aikido. also, yoga and cardio workouts will definitly improve your state of mind. you don't have to go crazy, just walk about 30min a day first thing in the morning. if you decide to try martial arts ( i recommend ) go at least 3 times per week. if you can't find Aikido, try another. the teacher is more important than the art. make sure you have a good feeling at the school. good luck!
Mental stability is strengthened by regular practice of meditative techniques,in much the same way as regular practise of exercise routines strengthens the body. There are numerous methods of practising meditation, just as there are many different forms of physical training and some methods should not be attempted without qualified instructors.
The simplest and easiest method consists of mentally repeating a mantric formula and trying to empty your mind of all other activity until you achieve a state of one pointed concentration on the mantra.Benefits include increasing power of concentration and a general improvement in mental abilities.
