Paranoia/Obsess. Complusive (serious)?

Question:
Ok. Lately, i've been like really paranoid and obsessive compulsive about little things. Like, example. locking the doors, turning off the oven, turning off the my hair curler. And it consumes me!! 2 nights ago I went to the movie with some friends and spent almost the whole time sitting there trying to remember if I had locked my front door. Lastnight after I laid down for bed, I couldn't remember if I locked the front door at work and drove back after midnight to make sure. To help some times I write on my hand like "locked safe" or something but is there anything I can do? I don't think I need professional help, I'm a psychology major and don't think it's that bad yet but it is getting worse. Thanks in advance.

Answers:
Make yourself a check list in a small note pad.
Mark off the things that you do.
When you worry about it you can go back to your list and make sure you've marked it off.
Its all about control. You can regain control by having visible verification that you did what you were suppose to do.

Other Answers:
I know what you are going through because I did something similar. It is OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). You should do reasearch on that. I just tried not to think about it and after a while I got better with it.
Do some research.everyone is different.

Look into behavior modification and cognitive rationalization.
Personally, since it disrupts regular routines, like making a trip at midnight, you may want to see someone before it comes unmanageable. You already recognize a pattern that it is getting worse, you stated so, please don't wait till they wish to put you on medication.

Sounds like you have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. You really should consult a doctor about this and get treatment before it gets worse. You don't want to spend your entire life worrying about the little things.
