Fear of Death?

Question:
This haunts me everyday. I think about it during the day, before i go to sleep. it interrupts me. Thoughts of whats after life, wasting your life, being put in a frickin box after ur dead, just allt his sh!it and it really stops my normal lifestyle. PLease help!!

Answers:
We all think about death, what might come afterwards. I guess the best way to tackle any fear is to hit it head on. Ask yourself what it will matter after you are dead. You won't feel anything, you won't know anything. And there are alternatives to coffins, like cremation. It sounds to me like you need to stop thinking about death and start living life. Make yourself make the most of each day, think toward making life on this earth the best it can be while you're here.
I find that sometimes making fun of it helps too. Like I say that I don't want a funeral, which everyone insists that I should have. I finally consented on the condition that I have a spring under my back that can be activated in half hour intervals where I pop up holding a sign that says "What are you looking at?" My son suggested that I be cremated in Priority mail boxes since I do ebay. That made me smile. Plan it, make it fun, then move on.

just foget the fear. do prayer before go to bed.
that sucks, im alright with death. if i died tomorrow, oh well, im happy with what ive accomplished. it would be a drag, but theres nothing i can do about it. I have regrets like everyone else, but i dont focus on them, i have goals and plans for the future, but i dont truly expect them to happen anyways. So if death came, death came. theres nothing you can do about it, i say, stop worring about it and just enjoy whatever time you have left, if you keep worring about death then pretty soon you will be dead and your life would have been a waste of just worring about death. ironic, and pathetic
fear of death is normal. but what you were saying is not. you need to pray a lot to give you strength and the courage to fight the feelings and thoughts you are engaged in. you also need the company of your family who can help you out in times like this. be brave and have faith
think of something else cause evrybody has to die!read books i sugest cause thier story diverts your mind.
Death is nothing to worry about, picture it this way, when your dead your braind dead so you wont be aware of your death or anything for that matter.
As far as religious fears your life will take its course and you are who you are and your destined to go where your destined to go. Dont let it haunt your mind.
it may be due to the fear induced by most organized religions,"i'm a sinner,I'm going to hell"think about this, would a loving G_D have put you in a world with so many conflicting philosophies, and declarations as to the will and nature of G_D,only to condemn you to everlasting pain and suffering if you chose the wrong one?No G_D wouldn't do that.start with telling yourself[write it down]what you want G_D to be.
Cremation is your best bet! It's a big mystery, but you can't worry about it. Do you have loved ones that have passed? Don't worry someone is looking out for you, when your time comes there will be someone that's appointed to show you the ropes! Trust me!
It is natural to fear the unknown. But you should speak to a professional so it doesn't consume your life.
when you feel the fear, stay inside of it. and it will go away

you always run from it, and so it persists
What I choose to believe about death isn't what other people choose to believe. But I do know that if you are smoking pot it enhances the fear of death. So if that is what you are doing, try to remember that it's only the pot making you think that way. We as human beings are always afraid of the unknown. Death is inevitable. Mostly we are afraid of how we will die. Will it be soon or not? Will it be painful & prolonged or peaceful & quick? I am speaking from experience. I used to be a pot smoker that feared death. I could never get it out of my mind. Then I got wind of this: Live each day to the fullest, like it was the last. Be good to each other & don't do things you have to be sorry for or lie about. We will all die someday & not one of us can tell the other what to fear or what not to fear, because we are dead! I see no point in belaboring something that is inevitable! You are going to have to learn to live that fact. In the meantime, just do your best to have a good life & do good things. Someday your reward will come. I think some of us fear death beacause we are not ready to go yet. Good luck in the "future" & the "past". Hope this helps you ,at least a little bit!
i'm gonna be straight up with you. your weak your dear death? there are things in this world worse than death. not relgious kinda way. but fearing death is normal if you can conqured your fear of what scares you of dying than you have couqured death. death is a normal pahze in life you can't escape it now matter how much your try. 100 years from now you will die and so will i and so will so many other people do you pray at night don't it's just illusion you set for your mind that there is a higher power out there. there really isn't there is just you.

every mortal is responsible for his or her own death.
i know it's weird to think that one day you're just gonna die, but that's just what happens and you can't change it.

all i can say is this: everyone dies but if you spend your whole life worrying about death, you'll never live.

good luck and i hope this was helpful
Having this same fear and the exact same experiences, I give you the following.

The bad news is that you will probably never get over the fear, at least not fully. It will probably always be with you seething in the dark recesses of your mind, ready to spring at a moments weakness.

The good news is that you can probably put it away for some time by jumping at the solution head on.

I've put a lot of study into death, religion, philosophy, the afterlife, and several other related subjects. The studying, the learning about it and about all of the ways that cultures have dealt with it, about the experiences of those that have crossed over and come back, about the different theories, it helps.

Then I topped it off by some hardcore studying into Buddhism and Taoism, both eastern belief systems that have some very strong beliefs when it comes to the concept of existence.

And, to address my first point, you know the one, where I state that you can never be rid of it. During the rough times, the rare times when it comes back to haunt me, I recommend something to take my mind off of it. I videogame, or see an upbeat movie (a comedy or the like, something to make me happy in a non maudlin way), or I read. Sometimes spending time with close family or loved ones in a pleasant and distracting fashion is a good idea as well.

Hope that this helps.

Love as always,

Sebastian
i can't wait to die and burn in hell for all eternity..maybe even have a martini or two
