Are people with bipolar disorder dangerous to others?
Question:
Answers:
Possibly, if they are not medicated. They are definitely a danger to themselves.
Other Answers:
no, they need to be on medication though, some can control it without, they are more dangerous for themsleves than you as they have a high suicide rate
No, they're not. They're just obnoxious half of the time.
i dont think so
if they don't take their medicine.
they may be dangerous to others and maybe themselves. if someone with bipolar disorder has it really bad, they should see a doctor and be prescribed medication. after a while, it may stop working, but that's okay and they should just get another med.
people with BD aren't dangerous. what BD causes them to do is dangerous, but the people themselves, i dont think so.
I have it & don't take my medication (don't like the feeling). I've found that the problem is that more people want to kick my ***. so while I am not a danger to others, they tend to be a danger to me.
It all depends on the individual person. Some bipolar sufferers may be violent, some may not. Just like people without a mental health issue. Then again if a person is violent they probably have a mental health issue. Anyway, bipolar disorder is a disease that is so variable it's hard to get a good grasp of how it affects people. It all depends on how the disease progresses for that individual.
Hope this helps. See the link below for more information an Bipolar disorder and violence.
Sincerely,
Terry
It depends on the person because in my life I have encountered many bipolar people. One who was a friend of my family was very violent. At the age of fourteen he pushed his father's head through the wall. He was sent to a juvenile facility for a year. Though my uncle also has bipolar disease and as long as he takes his medicine he is one of the friendliest people you could meet. Depending on the person you are talking about you need to pay attention to their actions an decide how dangerous they are. I hope that I have helped.
No, but dear lord can they chew your ear off when they're in a manic phase.
They do have a highish suicide rate though, it's important to get an acurate diagnosis, because sometimes it may be seen as a personality disorder and the treatment (lithium) is really only suitable for manic depression.
They can become aggressive, but this isn't the disease, it's their personality to start with just heightened by their mood.
They definately need to stay on their treatment.
NO!!
