I know this isn't normal.?

WHEN YOU CAN NOT AFFORD TO SEE A SPECIALIST, GO TO THE HOSPITAL ( THE EMERGENCY ROOM) AND TELL THEM YOU WANT TO SEE THE PSYCHIATRIST, IT WILL BE A LONG WAIT BUT WHEN YOU SEE HIM/HER TELL THEM YOUR SITUATION AND THEY CAN MAKE A DOCTOR REFERRAL SO YOU CAN SEE A SPECIALIST FOR FREE. EVERYONE DEVELOPS SOME SORT OF FEAR IN THERE LIFE AND IN A WAY THEY ARE ALL VERY MUCH ALIKE. i HAVE SCOIAL ANXIETY AND I DON'T MIND GOING IN THE CAR OR GOING TO CERTAIN PLACES BUT WHEN I KNOW THERE IS GOING TO BE A CROWD I AVOID EVEN GOING. INSTEAD OF CONCENTRATING ON THE CLOUDS IN THE SKY PICK OUT 5 OBJECTS OR NOTICE DIFFERENT THINGS AND WATCH THEM AND PAY ATTENTION TO ONLY THEM. SART OFF SMALL EVEN IF IT IS JUST SITTING ON YOUR FRONT STEP AND JUST LOOK AROUND FOR THOSE 5 THINGS. IT IS HARD TO FOCUS ON OTHER THINGS WHEN YOU ARE SO FEARFULL OF WHATS AROUND IT BUT WHEN YOU CAN DO THIS IT REALLY HELPS. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND I HOPE IT HELPS.

i was on a ship in a strong storm, and i could could not go back on a ship for a long time, the best thing to do is when it a little drizzle go outside and soon you will feel better. I would ask your local hospital if they offer a support group that is free. There are lots of behaviors like yours and you would get more support from someone who has been there. Maybe take small steps. If there is a cloud in the sky, walk outside and back in, until you are comfortable with that, then gradually increase it. Knowledge is power-read about the weather and know what types are normal in your location. Maybe see if you could tour your local news station and speak with the meteorologist-seriously! It would be very fun and you might feel more in control. Have a plan in your mind-if you are caught in a certain type of weather, what will you do? As you work through each of these, you will begin to take back your power. I hope it helps.
Im afraid to leve the house too when there is a dark cloud in the sky. But you shouldent be that afraid.
girl, where do you live? if you live in some state where its always rainy and cloudy then you should MOVE. like to the west side of the USA. Im in Arizona. and its beautiful here.
try to go outside of your home when it rains and stay in the rain for couple minutes and see if you get confy. also, when it gets cloudy go to a near by store and get used to traveling while in bad weather.
well brandi, i understand how you feel but you cant go on this way because sooner or later, youll never want to leave your house and you cant live that way. so what you do is you watch the weather everyday and make sure you are prepared for it but only go out if its neccessary because you must take baby steps 1st. then you can really face your fear/. My suggestion to lessen your fear is to be prepared. Get a small backpack and put some survival gear in it and take it with you when you're feeling uneasy about leaving the house. (poncho, warming pacs, freeze dried food) Whatever season it is pack accordingly. A camping store or aisle should have what you need. This may give you the security you need to allow you to face your fear. Hope it helps - good luck!
You stated that you have been stranded in some severe weather conditions. Sounds to me that you are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder or have developed a phobia. This is fairly common for people who have suffered any type of traumatic experience in there life. The same or similar conditions in which the trauma occurred brings back bad memories and fears. It is not uncommon. It would be the same as if you were ever trapped in an enclosed place and then became claustrophobic. Unfortunately, you are not financially capable of seeing a specialist. Try to look in your area for free clinics that deal with these types of things. They do exist. Counseling could benefit you. I hope you find a way to get help.
A healthy fear of storms is not abnormal (my house has been hit with lightning). When you see the clouds and to get over the excessive fear, trying going with someone, remember that a car is a very safe place to be in a thunderstorm, go to places where you will be inside, check your weather channel before leaving and see if a storm is coming.
