Recommended over-the-counter anti-depressants?
Question:
Answers:
i don't know of any antidepressants over the counter unless it is a organic form such as st johns wort or something like that if there was a over the counter medication for depression i would not take it there are a lot of anti anxiety medication out there that are very effective and do not necessarily have to be taken every day your family doctor can prescribe them for you if this does not help see a psychiatrist a doctor should make the choice for you wether to go on an anti depressant or anxiety medication the doctor will chose , the medication for you, based on your symptoms a psychiatrist has a better understanding and knowledge of medications than a family doctor good luck
St John's Wort may help you, but you really need to see a doctor for an anxiety medication like Ativan or Xanax. Good luck to you.
I am not sure how bad you disorder is, but really and truly exercise is the best anti-depressant. It naturally releases endorphins that help you to feel better. Maybe use a treadmill or exercise machine in your home. But getting outside in the fresh air and walking 30 minutes a day will give you great benefits mentally and physically.
Your better off seeing a doctor and getting a prescription because over-the-counter stuff isn't always that effective, and you don't always know if it's right for you and your circumstances.
As for non-prescription anti-depressants, I'm not sure about in the UK so maybe you could google it?
ROUTINES. . .I find this will alleviate a lot of your stress and anxiety. Work out a schedule for yourself. Include your morning routines, excercise, etc. Be sure to add in some fun time for yourself. Trying to stick to your schedule will help take your mind off things that bother you. Good luck!
Hi I am really sorry about your situation. You said that you are feeling very anxious..doing things thart relax you are obviously the best way to combat that for now. Try baths, progressive muscle relaxation, and diaphragmatic breathing. These are all exercises that are used in cognitive-behavioral theraoy for anxiety. There really is no over the counter medicine for anxiety or depression. If you dont ant to take medicine every day benzodiazepines are prescribed on a prn (as needed) basis by doctors. Hope this is helpful, feel free to e-mail me if you need additional help. Good luck
The only over the counter antidepressant I am aware of is St John's Wort, but it is unregulated. What this means in practice is that there is no control over the quantity or quality of the active ingredients. Products from one supplier may work for you at a certain dosage, but the same dose of a different brand may not, and a new bottle from the original supplier may be different to the previous one.
You should also be aware that St John's Wort can interact with other prescription drugs, so you need to be careful. If exrecise and the other stress management techniques aren't doing it for you, leave this to your doctor.
