Is it normal to hear voices after being raped?

Question:
I have been hearing really strange voices. The one i heard today was a scream of pain calling my name.

What does this mean?

Answers:
It's not "normal" to hear voices, but it is normal to have some very abnormal things happen after such a trauma. You should probably get some trauma counseling.

Other Answers:
See a doctor
Yeah it's probably normal but you need to go to the doctor.
PROBABLY TAKE SOME ADULTS WIT U TO SEE WHAT IT IS. U NEVER KNOW!
See the Doc
i think u should talk to a psychologist.but its normal for u to be traumarized after such a vile experience
You should really tell someone first that you were raped and then tell them that you are hearing voices. its all in the head!
PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) is EXTREMELY common for rape victims. PLEASE seek victims help, rape recovery, or seek a loved one to talk to about this. It is very important for a rape victim to talk about the incident and press charges to find justice. Talk to someone you love and trust at the very least.

Do NOT mess around with this, it is too important. If you aren't seeing a counselor, arrange to see one asap. If you are, tell them what you are experiencing.

You didn't deserve to be raped and you don't deserve this trouble either.

Waarm thoughts and the best of luck.
emm.. its a recurring of what happen.. when one person is tramutised by something, the mind goes into a frenzy recording, which in turn play backs frequently..its not a good sign..i guess its good to see a doc..
Please talk to an adult or your parents.this is not normal.
Oh gosh. This brings back bad memories.

After it happened to me, it triggered my symptoms. But my voices are hereditary. I'm schizophrenic. The trauma just triggered it for me. I agree, though. See a psydoc.
I'm sorry you were raped. I think you may be experiencing an acute case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. According to the information I read on Yahoo, you should call 911. Please read the following:
When To Call a Doctor

Call 911 or other emergency services immediately if:

You think you cannot keep from harming yourself or someone else.

You hear voices.

Someone you know attempts suicide or shows warning signs of suicide, such as talking about suicide or about harming someone else.

Other warning signs include being out of touch with reality (psychosis) or using alcohol or drugs excessively.

I wish you all the best. Please go to the ER.
i suppose so although i wouldn't know cause i've never been raped. It makes sense tho because that sort of thing is considered 'traumatic' and when stuff like that happens it affects your mind. Sometimes it causes people to become paranoid or something else in their head snaps and they hear things which don't exist. Either way it's a subconscious cry of pain involving recollection in my opinion and POSSIBLY your body in pain (emotionally or physically) caling the only one who can hear it.you.
that probably didnt help much but i'm not a psychologist.
hearing voices could be a possible reaction to the anxiety and stress that resulted from your being raped. Please see your doctor right away.
Like others here, I would strongly recommend that you seek immediate help with a therapist or psychiatrist. Based on the information you've provided, you could either be experiencing some form of flashback as a result of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder stemming from the rape, or you could be experiencing auditory hallucinations likely related to depressive symptoms also stemming from the rape. While neither of these are "normal", they aren't an unusual occurance for someone who has been through such a traumatic experience. Don't disregard them or think that they will just go away on their own. A therapist or psychiatrist can help you figure out which of the two is happening and help you decide on the best course of action for you. Regardless of the basis of the voices, I would encourage you to get involved in counseling services with someone who specialized in trauma and/or rape specifically. This will not likely be an easy process for you and you may experience many other distressing symptoms. Working with someone who is trained in this area will help make sure you have the resources, techniques and tools to help you get through this very difficult period. If, at any time, you feel that you might be in danger of harming yourself or someone else, you should contact 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Likewise, if the voices start become more coherent and derrogetory or commanding in nature, seek about emergency services immediately.
