How can I learn to take things at face value instead of consistently overanalyzing?

Question:
I used to smoke pot a lot, I'm trying to tone it down a little bit since college has started, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was somewhat responsible for me overanalyzing almost everything. I'll be in a situation, and if **** goes wrong I analyze it and end up feeling retarded, stupid, immature, whatever.

I don't know if im just a 'deep' thinker or what, but I'm sick of it! I wish I could enjoy life like most people do, that whole ignorance is bliss thing.

Answers:
Yes, you are a deep thinker! I have the same problem - it has to do with intelligence. That's probably where the pot comes in - it helps you relax and not be so analytical!
you're probably of a melancholy personality type. they tend to overanalyze things. they tend to see the negative in situations, they're very serious, talented, creative, idealistic.

and, you're right, ignorance is bliss.
Just tell yourself that if it isn't life-threatening, then it doesn't deserve another thought. Tell yourself to learn from it and then put it completely out of your mind. Quit the pot. It's not good for you.
