Can 'obsessive compulsive disorder' kill you?

Question:

Answers:
No it just really feels like it. :) I'm serious. I have it too. But when you say things need to be perfect I wonder if it is more Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. Google that and see if that fits you more. Either way you need professional help. Medication worked amazingly for me. With this disorder you really need it. But OCPD is totally different.

Other Answers:
it depends on what form u have

only if your obsession is with sharp, pointy things..spring for a session on the couch, counselor can help you figure out what's going on.. no. unless your in alife threatning thing like someone is trying to kill you in your house and you have to flicker the light on and off 7 times when you enter a room.

Maybe if you chain smoke or obsessively overeat all the wrong foods and yes the sharp, pointy things too.

I have it. obsessive compulsive disorder usually means there are rituals that you feel you have to go thru every day. these rituals interfere with normal living. I suppose, if one of your rituals has something to do with how you walk, and you are in the middle of the street, then you could get hit by a car. your habits are more annoying and infuriating than dangerous, but you can't let it go too far.

That would depend on what the OCD was. If your was to drive 80mph everytime you got inthe car, then there's a chance that it will kill you.

If it's cleaning, washing your hands, hair pulling, then no, your safe.

Apparently, nearly everyone of us has one to some degree, so think about what yours could be.

Sounds like you should be safe. The ones you see in news stories are the hoarders whose piles of junk fall in on them and then their hoarded dogs or cats eat them. ;~) I have it. It depends on what the obsessions are. Some obsession can be dangerous and could probably lead to death. But if you're just obsessed with keeping things perfect you don't have to worry about that killing you. It won't kill you to order things right and so on, although it will effect your life and the way you feel a lot.
