I recently had my driving license took off me for admitting to taking drugs in the last 12 months?

Question:
I was advised by the doctor to inform the DVLA about my cannobis addiction(which i am now 18 weeks clean)and i phoned up the DVLA and they sent me a form saying what drugs i'd taken in the last 12 months,i was brutally honest and wrots down ALL the drugs i'd taken and when,so the medical advisors saw me as unfit to drive.Do you think i was right in being honest or just plain foolish!

Answers:
I think you did the right thing. Sometimes doing the right thing is a bit painful, as it does not always make us popular or get us what we want. You made a serious mistake by taking drugs and you are still paying for it. Let this be a lesson to you. You have your whole life in front of you so keep your nose clean and go have some HEALTHY fun. You'll get your license back soon enough.

Other Answers:
Right, but its sad that you were punished for it.
Being honest is the best my dear bet you won't do drugs anymore hope not for your sake
Foolish for being honest
your a fool. but i dont want you near my car.
I, for one, am grateful you won't be on the road to kill me. Clean for 18 weeks is not enough time to assess your safe on the road. You must have had quite an addiction for the doctor to give you that advice. I would guess that if you didn't tell DVLA, the doctor may have been under some legal thing to inform them himself or lose his license to practice medicine.
It is ALWAYS right to be honest. You use drugs, which is serious, and can indicate addiction. One of the first things to go in an addiction is HONESTY. So I am proud of you for doing the right thing.

I hope you take this seriously. The state WANTS you to be able to drive - but not if you are a risk to the community or to yourself.

You're young enough where this is NOT the end of the world. Hell, I just got my SECOND DWI, and I am basically up the creek, at age 41 with no license and fines out the wazoo. But I feel it may be the best thing that ever happened to me, because I am now taking my recovery from ETOH and depression SERIOUSLY...

I am losing my license for two years - and I see it as an opportunity to get better. What good is driving if I'm dead or kill someone or end up in prison or a loony bin somewhere?

Keep us posted... Jack
Sometimes you have to lie. Unless they give you a drug test or something like that, and you have been clean, I would suggest not telling anyone.

Thats like 5 years from now, if you apply for a really big job, and they ask you about your past history, and they have no way of actually finding out your drug history, don't be like "Ya I took Cocaine, and Crack, Marijuana, PCP, Dope, Purpel Haze, Ecstasy, and just about ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF! But I'm better now!

It just doesnt' sound right, and put your self in their position. All you need to know is that you are clean, and you are never going to do drugs again. So do both of you guys a favor and don't mention it unless absolutely necessary.

That's like telling your girlfriend about how you had diarreah one time. (this is a weird example, but trust me on this)Everybody in their life has probably had diarreah once. But you don't SAY IT. Unless absoultely necessary, because noone wants to hear about that. If you do say that to her, expect to get dumped. Tell someone about your drug history, expect for them to take your license.

Remember, unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
I guess thats good that you were honest....I on the other hand would never admit to taking drugs! oh well you learned your lesson about what not to tell people. I think you should have known that there would be some sort of consequence for admiting to taking drugs.
Absolutely! I hope by admitting you were taking drugs taught you a lesson. I'm a mother of 2 and grandmother of 2 and I just don't think I could ever imagine anything happening to them because of a careless driver that was either intoxicated or high. I think what you did was a huge step in the right direction. Good for you!! Good luck to you :-)
