Answers:
I have asked that question recently myself after the death of a loved one.
I think the answer is partly that you don't ''let go'', but you have to work through a process that is difficult. If one has faith, that is a great help. Support of other family members or friends is also important.
It is wrong to think that one picks right up after such a shock. But you have to go on living your life and allow your self to feel sadness and grief as well. You also have to work to enjoy your life, by seeing friends and other life affirming things.
people will die sooner or later. they are probably so shocked that they don't think it's true. that is why they just "let go"
