Time for my meds!?

Question:
how many people here ..need medication to go to sleep? me without my ambiens i can't go to sleep I TRIED.

Answers:
Have you tried Melatonin. It is not a drug. Your body produces it while you are in the dark. If you are sleeping with a light source on or the TV on it can interfere with normal Melatonin production. Our bodies sometimes produce less of this as we get older. You can buy Melatonin at Wal-Mart in the vitamin section or you can go to health food store and pay more if you prefer.

Not harmful and no bad side effects. I find that if I don't allow for a full sleep period when taking it I may be a tad drowsy when I get up, but as long as I allow for 8 hours sleep I usually sleep straight through and wake up feeling rested.

Take a small dose about 30 minutes before you need to be asleep and then when you feel just a little sleepy get comfortable and you should drift right off. This stuff will not knock you out but will help you achieve Normal sleep pattern.

If you are consuming caffeine in coffee, soda, tea, chocolate, etc during the day this can still be affecting you when you are trying to go to sleep at night--even though you probably feel like it has worn off the effects can linger. Be sure that you are drinking a reasonable amount of water during the day--but not near bedtime.

I take Trazadone to sleep. I couldn't go to sleep without it for several weeks. Now that I am feeling a little better and getting sleep, I can go to sleep without it.

alot of medicine messed up the brain confused, slurring speech I take Klonopin to go to sleep. I have always had problems with insomnia and I'm bipolar. Before I got my rx for Klonopin, I would only sleep about 3-4 hours a night. Now, I take naps sometimes just because I can. I had never been able to nap before. Klonopin is a controled substance and I'm sure that one day my pdoc is going to put me on something else, but I have never been so relieved and rested.
