Do you believe in your past coming back on you mentally if it is provoked by some sort of trauma?

Question:
I believe that a traumatic experience can cause the mind to short curcuit and bring the past back because I'm going thru it right now. I have been having a lot of flash backs from my past.

Answers:
Absolutely - our past is our foundation, we build from it and on it - it is natural that from time to time some of the foundation will crumble and begin to fall apart - the key is to keep rebuilding - reinforcing the foundation with the best materials possible for the repair - ie, talking with friends or family, seeking therapy, realizing it is the past and we can grow and move forward. etc.

Keep the foundation repaired and it will not crumble

I too believe post traumatic stress syndrome can flare up if similar things happen and you have not dealt with them by counseling. I would encourage you to find a good therapist or engage a close friend with an open ear to discuss these things. My daughter too is experiencing repercussions of the past and has not followed the recommended procedures.
She is of legal age, so my advice is not and has not been heeded, nor the medical advice she has been given. She is running right now, afraid to face the demons that haunt her. I would appreciate any feedback as well from you or others.
yes, this is what i go through and end up getting a lot of depression from it, that is why i try to avoid going to my grandparents house whenever i can because its instant depression that strikes like a blitzkrieg (lol, like the similie)
Anytime one is traumatized the mind scans the sub conscious and is it any coincidence the old scars from old wounds were not healed so they would be sympathetic to the new wounds thus causing your conscious to remember your past.
If something bad happens once, shame on them,
if it happens twice shame on you.

Yes, traumatic experiences can bring on flashbacks (vivid realistic memories .. almost like physically reliving the moment). Survivors of child abuse often have flashbacks of their abuse years later in adulthood when they are in a state of high stress or anxiety or perhaps even just very tired. I don't think of it as the mind "short circuiting" though, and when I have flashbacks I take it as a sign that I need to take more care of myself, slow down, reduce stress, resolve situations. You could do some research on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
