deep breaths dont work and these heart palpitations only started after i quit drinking alcohol witch helped with the social anxiety im starting to think about drinking again?

Answers:
Your palpitations could be from stress and anxiety. Sounds like you were self-medicating with the alcohol in order to deal with the anxiety, which is probably why you didn't have the palpitations until you stopped drinking. There is no way to know for sure whether you have a heart problem without listening to your heart, running tests, getting a physical exam, etc. If your palpitations are stress related, you need to treat the root of the problem which is anxiety, because if you don't treat that then nothing will make them go away. You should see your doctor to rule out a physical problem with your heart and get treatment (most likely medication) for your anxiety. Once you get the anxiety under control your palpitations should subside. Good luck!
It actually sounds more like panic/anxiety attacks. This is rather common in people who are suffering alcohol and/or drug withdrawal.
Maybe a small dose of clonazepam or ativan could help you for a few months until you get a better handle on things. They work well but beware of using them long term or you'll just end up with benzodiazepine addiction.
God Bless and thanks for reading.
it's like having acne, you think it's caused by too much fantasizing about sex, or eating too much chocalate, or haven't been going to church every Sunday, but the truth of the matter is that it's a fact of life, something that you just need to learn to live with.
