Why do most people hate the sound of their own voice?

Because it sounds so. eyuch! I think it has to do with the same reason why many people hate pictures of themselves. They're not used to hearing their voices on recordings or seeing themselves on film that it's a very different and new idea of themselves.
I do because it sounds really weird and annoying on a recording device!! i dont have an answer as to why, but i hate it to along with the rest of others that have posted
although i have been told i have a nice voice, i dont agree
We're used to hearing our voice as a blend of three sources - mental voice, carrying of sound through the body, and sound working itself through the eardrum. The montone return of a machine simply is a disturbing ghost of what we're used to recieving.
