I am going to my first intake appt tomorrow after being off meds for a while. what should i expect?

Question:
I know they are going to ask about my past history and i really dont remember everything. I hate it. I cant go to the people i use to go to when i lived in this state before because im in a diff town and there are certain areas i can go. intakes make me nervous to begin with but i dont remember my first what is gonna happen? is it just asking questions? do i get to see a dr? also i have my 13 month old daughter with me i dont have anyone to leave her with. I take her everywhere will they look down upon me for having her there?I know this sounds stupid to alot of people. I'm very anxious about this and dont want it to show. and so no one asks i have bi-polar1, borderline personality disorder, agoraphobia, anxiety disorder post tramatic stress disorder and ocd. I have had these for many many years i just switched states came back to this state and hadnt insurance to get help. so what is likely going to happen? I really need my meds i hope i dont have to wait.

Answers:
Just try to be calm, and expect that they will ask a lot of questions on the first session. The first session is about question and answer. Try to answer as much, as honestly as possible. No one will look down on you if you take your daughter or for having no insurance. The fact that you are seeking help is a positive step. The chances of seeing a doctor are slim on a first session. Try to stay in your "wise mind." If you have Borderline , you may have had education about what wise Mind is--if not, let me tell you. We have three possible states of mind. Emotional Mind (fly off the handle, getting upset, wearing our hearts on our sleeves, getting angry and perturbed when we don;t get our way); our Reasonable/Logical Minds (calculating, calm, emotionless, mathmatical). The wise mind is a blending of those two states of mind--the ideal--we want to remain calm, present to others as being not being a :live wire," be able to present "just the facts."
Go in there with confidence, thinking "I am making the first step toward my recovery!" "This is for me!"
You will be fine!

You really need to make the most of this appointment in order for the service you are attending to work well for you.

Write down the names of your doctors and clinics that you may have been involved with in the past, the names of all your meds that you were on before . if they helped, if they didn't and if they caused any serious side effects. Describe how you came to be diagnosed as Bipolar 1, OCD, PTSD, etc.

Yes, you can bring your baby daughter with you . I think people there would understand that not everybody has somebody to leave their kids with to go to an appointment. In fact, some of the staff will likely enjoy seeing a baby there. It is always refreshing.
