Do you have Asperger's Syndrome, and how has it affected your life?
Question:
Answers:
I don't have it.but my daughter has it (according to some doctors. Others say that she doesn't display enough of the symtoms to be labeled with Aspergers, so they slap on the PDD NOS label).
How has it changed things in our household? Well, I am more careful to let her know what our plans are for the day and the next day.and I am more hesitant to change them.
I understand that when she says her "leg hurts" and she can't really tell me WHERE it hurts, it is because she cannot really pinpoint things physically..that it is just "her leg".
I know that when she doesn't look me in the eye, it is NOT because she is being evasive..it is because eye contact can be really uncomfortable.
I know that the lunch room and where to sit can be overwhelming choices for her.
I know that math and its concreteness seems to be far easier than history or social studies and their abstractness.
I know she can remember the name and birthday of almost every
single person she has ever met.
I know that she needs to go to bed at a certain time each night simply because that is what she has always done.
I know that chaos in a classroom, loud noises, and "free for alls" are not any fun for her at all.
I know she is a great painter and loves to read.
I know she loves most people she meets and is probably the most intuitively empathetic person I have ever met.
I know that with a little extra planning and forethought, aspergers does not have to be debilitating to anyone.

Im Mild to Moderate Autism and well I can say i've had my ups and downs but my Faith in God has kept me alive.
I thought I did and so did doctors and many other people but then it just was not that I found out I do not have Autism or Aspergers but have some traits, many traits, I still now am trying to find out what replaced it but need to work harder. Do you why did you ask this question? Or does a friend or loved one?
