yes it is an antidepressant, I take it and it works really well. I have been on it for about a year now.

I take effexor to help with hot flashes and mood swings - it is wonderful - expensive - but i feel like my old self again!
It's for depression and anxity. Only take what your doctor give you and don't listen to other people. If you are not happy with what your doctor says or trust him, find another one.
