1.Lucid dreaming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dreaming) is a way of controlling your dreams.
2.I know that you are tired of the nightmares but they are great to ‘work out’ the negative aspects in your life. Welcome them and they may go away just because you changed your attitude.
3.If try all but they are still there I would contact perhaps say a good psychologist.
4. Have been exposed to some chemical lately or take certain medication?

Find out what's pressing you in reality.
I had the same problem but i found if i went to sleep on my stomach and not my back i didnt have nightmares.weird huh.
Hmm.I used to have that kind of stuff too. Im not sure how I stopped it, but I think that you should try focusing on pleasant thoughts before you go to sleep. Or maybe a glass of warm milk. and, if it suits you, pray.
I've experienced the exact same thing, and I've noticed that it happens when I'm under a lot of stress. When the stress is gone, I tend to sleep better. I don't really know how to alleviate stress, but if you're under a lot of stress, try focusing on alleviating that, and the nightmares should stop.
take a vacation real quick
Try to resolve the pressure you are repressing. Is there something that you are worried about? Are you anxious about the future or a family issue?
We tend to express or unresolved feeling through our dreams. The type of dream you are describing sounds like that may be it. Work on any unresolved situation during the day and you will be sleeping soundly through the night in no time.
some medications can do this ,,I know when i started taking zyprexa i had nighmares,,best thing to do is pray and try to make peace with urself, could be stress, Good luck too you.
Well I agree that you should try to get to the root of your problems but sometimes a quick fix for night mares is a night light. I know, you're not 4, and probably very comfortable in the dark, But these little lights have proved helpful. Good luck to you, and sweet dreams!
I went through this also after a very traumatic experience. We often express our fears in our dreams. You may want to see a psychologist to help you work out those fears or to check you for anxiety and panic attacks. In the meantime some things that work for me are:
1) do not eat anything just before bed. Try to make sure you don't snack at all in that last hour before bed.
2) Try drinking a soothing warm drink before bed. My favorite is raspberry tea.
3) Try to get some excersize in the middle of the day each day. Don't do it too close to sleep as this will keep you too wired up.
4) A hot shower or bath can help relax muscles and help you sleep.
5) Keep a journal where you can pour out your negative thoughts. When we keep them locked inside too much, they will find a way out, often through dreams.
6) Try reading in the evening before bed. Read something that makes you happy and you enjoy. This can help focus our mind on pleasant thoughts and away from nightmares.
7) A healthy diet also helps in stress reduction and in reducing bad dreams. Raw carrots actually help reduce our stress levels, so try snacking on fresh fruits and vegetables during the day instead of chips, cookies and other "junk foods".
Good luck and sweet dreams.
To dream that you participate in a fight, indicates inner turmoil. Some aspect of yourself is in conflict with another aspect of yourself. Perhaps an unresolved or unacknowledged part is fighting for its right to be heard. It may also parallel a fight or struggle that you are going through in your waking life.
To see others fighting in your dream, suggests that you are unwilling to acknowledge your own problems and turmoil. You are not taking any responsibility or initiative in trying to resolve issues in your waking life.
To dream that you are fighting to the death, indicates that you are unwilling to acknowledge a waking conflict or your own inner turmoil. You are unwilling and refusing to change your old attitudes and habits.
To dream that you feel fear, signifies that you achievements will not be as successful as you had anticipated. You are having anxieties in certain circumstances of your life.
