Hiya! I am a nurse and also have been in the psychiatric field for several years, so I can only tell you my observations--sometimes yoiu can get "used" to Xanax, and it does not control anxiety or panic as well as at first. If you are in a constant state of anxiety even on the meds, feeling dizzy, and getting musculoskeletal issues which clearly indicate stress in your body, you would do well to go back to your prescribing physician, or even get a second opinion, there are many drugs out there which can treat chronic anxiety which may work much better than Xanax. As far as the dizziness, it CAN be due to stress, but it also can be a separate physiological entity, like an ear problem causing imbalance, or other metabolic problems, a qualified physician could really give you a good judgement call on this. Are you receiving any behavior modification/counseling in order to deal and fight the stress? there are many forms of meditation, accupuncture, message, etc., which can help greatly and are not drugs. Xanax is a benzodiazepine drug, and causes dependence on it and withdrawal symptoms, be careful with it, especially with alcohol. Hope I have helped, take care,. and feel free to write me!
Sounds like you're having symptoms of fibromyalgia. You should go to a regular MD and describe the problem, s/he will do some tests to rule out more serious ailments and get you on a program of lifestyle changes and possibly medication.
