How to combat morning anxiety (and the nausea)?
Question:
I don't want to quit the job because that would not solve the underlying problem of me dealing with stress (I am only a sophomore in college). Bottom line, how can I deal with the nausea until I see the doctor in 3 weeks? Are herbal pills the only option now? Thank you for any help.
Answers:
I used to have this early in my career and it went away.
The good time is, is that its a very good trait to have. Most of the best athletes, comedians, actors, stock brockers have it to some degree.
Its caused by massive amounts of adrenaline secreted by the pacreas as you become more stimulated, while thinking about work, the drive in, the people etc. The release of adrenaline is greater in very sucessful people, generally the more nervous you are the more you want to suceed. You have to put the nervous energy to good use.
Here's a couple of things to try.
wake up abit earlier and do some tough but quick exercise, 50 crunches, and 30 squats. That will calm you and use the adrenaline to start the body.
I could rarely eat, but you could drink some soup, then eat something in work. This also calms you.
Camomile tea. Calms, very well, with honey.
Try to imagine your morning routine as a time specific special-ops mission. Do everything efficienty with an organised plan against a time scale. Try to improve on the time every day until you have it down.
Listen to some motivational music as you drive in. Have fun preparing a CD with tunes that make you feel good.
When you're away from work, BE away from work. Dont think, talk or do anything to do with work. Go to the Gym, or have a bath, go to the DVD store. Straight after, to set your body to leisure time.
There is medication but will always have side effects.
Good luck.

Ginger might help (ginger tea, ginger candy, etc). Soda crackers too.
You need a job that is more you by the sounds of things. You need to look at, and isolate, the factors that are causing your stress.. It sounds to me that it is the job.
Jobs are a part of your life - not your life - it is possible to have a job that you love and happily engage with the day and not feel sick.
So, ease back take it easy and make some positive changes and tell the cocksuckers to get bent!
Hope this helps
You have what is called a "nervous stomach." The doctor may prescribe anti anxiety meds for you. In the meantime, try to combat negative thoughts when they enter your head. Think the kind of things you would say to a friend who was nervous about something, "I'm okay, I'm doing all right, take it easy."
St. John's Wort may be of some benefit to you.
I have this problem and I see a therapist for it. There is nothing that will stop anxiety you just have to learn how to except it and recognize what it is. I am not on any medication for this - I just wait it out and know that is going to happen. My stress comes from a variety of things - usually work. Something that helps me is keeping a journal of my anxiety. I have it divided in 4 sections: Behavior, Emotions, Physical, Thoughts -- I organize it in a quadrant and I write down things as they happen to my body. My anxiety is made up of these 4 things.
I may not be an expert but I know that I have definite anxiety and it is a pretty extreme case, but over the course of the last 2 months I have really been able to get it under control by doing these writing exercises.
Different things work for different people. I still go through a bottle of Tums every few weeks (they dont even soothe my stomach) - It is very aggravating and I wish there were a simple remedy. I hope this helps you as I understand very strongly how you are feeling.
