can meditation reduce sleep duration?
Question:
Answers:
Yes this is possible, but it takes consistency over time to be able to reach a deep enough level of relaxation through meditation to decrease the need for sleep. Start off with 5 minutes by setting a timer and working up to at least 20 minutes a day. Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight and breath slowly and deeply from your naval. Don't worry about your thoughts they will come and they will go, just stay upright and keep breathing deep. Once you have mastered the habit try for longer periods of 40 to 60 minutes of daily meditation if you want to reduce sleep. I recommend practicing Yoga before meditation to prepare the body for long periods of sitting and focused breathing.
Other Answers:
Yes there are such medicine exist. Some medication has side effect in which they cause patient to be unable to sleep.
But i do not think that you should start using medication for it if your case is not severe.
Also, if you are sleeping for about 8-12 hours i think thats alright so not necessary to use medicine. Ample sleep is essential to boost one's immune system.
Hope that helps
