question about anxiety and depression?

Question:
i have been diagnosed with depression, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety. i have been put on zoloft 50 mg. i was wondering if anybody knows of any effective ways to naturally get rid of it. the disorder runs in my family and it is biological so dont tell me its all in my head. i am depressed and very nervous for know reason

Answers:
Find a good seratonin suppliment, and get yourself out in the sunlight as often as possible. Sunlight raises natural seratonin levels. And don't take St. John's Wort, because long term use can cause kidney problems.

There's no way to get rid of emotional diorders, just lessen the symptoms.

Other Answers:
It is probably partially biological and part psychological. Get some therapy and they can help you deal with your issues.

Don't be embarrassed about it, just get some help.
Jesus is the only way....
you need to try to relax by eating well, feeling good about yourself, and finding ways to help you clear your mind. I would try meditation or yoga and see how it works. talk to someone close to you who cares about you, and know you are NOT alone
I got mad at it and kicked it; a strong emotion seems to be the key, in my unprofessional opinion.
A great time to change your life style. If you can afford it, start walking for excercise, take a vacation by yourself or with a close friend. Change your prioritys and location. all the above are good ways to restart your living habits. Good luck.
i am. but bipolar is in my family so i dont no just think of sweet thangs
For your anxiety, some homeopathic ways to help treat it are "Rescue remedy" or St. John's Wort. St. John's Wort is a capsule, and Rescue remedy, is a variety of different plant oils that are taken from a droplet, either mixed into some water or under your tongue. You should be able to find Rescue remedy at a local herbal pharmacy or health food store, (but I've yet to see it at GNC.) There is no "cure" for depression. Seek some help, and put people around you with positive attitudes.
Homeopathy :-
By what you have written here ARGENTUM NIT 30C seems to be your remedy can you please give more specific individual details, what are the other accompanying symptoms. You see Homeopathy does not treat the disease it treats the sick person.
So what you tell us about yourself and your habits is how Homeopathy goes about treating and curing you.
Take Care and God Bless
Sorry about the diagnosis but please give the Zoloft a chance to work. Progressive relaxation, deep breathing exercise, and general physical exercise all are great helps! I have suffered with this condition for many years but through the above-mentioned helps, I've been able to enjoy life a lot more and don't have as many stressors as before.

You say this is something that runs in your family -- that's probably true, so be very careful about discussing the various symptoms and feelings openly, as the panic/anxiety disorder can be passed on to others who are suggestible.

Good luck and God bless you.

I have been told mine is due to a chemical imbalance and I'll likely be on medications for the remainder of my life.
There is a reason, although you either cannot identify it or won't identify it.

I actually discovered that my depression was self-generated because my needs were not being met.

I dropped those needs and had less anxiety and reduced depression. (I still get depressed, but it isn;t as deep and doesn't last as long).

You need to stimulate your mind and body. I recommend running laps. It generates your endorphins and gets you out in the sun.
Well naturally if it genetic, you. They told me couple years ago if you have a chemical imbalance then you have to take your meds untill you have built of your chemicals. It can take years
It is not all in your head. That is you are not personally causing it. It is caused by an imbalance of chemicals in your brain just as a diabetic needs insuling. I know what you want is some herb or vitamin to treat it. Unfortunately there is none that is effective. You are treating as naturally as you can in that you are attackng the problems you have. Yes it is genetic and you did not ask for this and it is not of your own creation.
Please do not feel bad. This is not your fault and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Many people have issues like this. Everyone has issues of some type. Zoloft is considered one of the best antidepressants so you should feel good that it was prescribed. Lexipro, Celexa and Wellbutrin are also good. Stay away from Paxil and Effexor.
Taking fish oil and a multivitamin and a B complex vitamin can help, but will not take the place of your Zoloft. I am sorry you are stuck with this pain, but please realize it is not your fault at all as it is not anyone else's fault either. These diseases hurt like hell people do not choose to be this way.
Ya know..you may be able to do a mass 360 live change.Diet, recreational activities, acquaintance.Basically clean house. I know that easier said than done but if your looking for a possible cure. I have been to where I have had to up my does to 200 mg and then due to lack of insurance quit.cold. Scary the first time. Its been about 2 months now with out and have been ok. Don't get me wrong .they keep up with those Kodak commercials., Ill be back.lol.Trust That! Sure this is not something that you should stay on forever, but in the mean time.if its working for you. It may not necessarily be genetic, (not saying it isn't) but its defiantly not all in your head. People deal with things differently. I commend you for taking action on the problem instead of taking action on others and blaming the problem.
meditation..
or some traditional herbs or medicine or theraphy..

well the best way.. is to examine your lifestyle..

exercize 2-3 times a week..
playing, have fun, meet peoples..
you need to be in therapy (counseling) along with taking the correct meds for all of your disorders. very rarely will one medication fix several disorders.get in to therapy and make sure all of your disorders are being treated.
Wickedness, injustice, grief, pessimism, trouble, loneliness, fear, stress, frustration, distrust, unscrupulousness, anxiety, rage, jealousy, resentment, drug addiction, immorality, gambling, prostitution, hunger, poverty, social corruption, theft, war, struggle, violence, oppression, fear of death… News about these issues appear in the newspapers and on TV every day. The popular press devotes entire pages to these subjects, while others serialise articles about their psychological and social aspects. However, our acquaintance with these feelings is not limited solely to the press; in daily life, we, too, frequently come across such problems and, more importantly, personally experience them.
People and societies endeavour to liberate themselves from the distressing experiences, disorder and repressive social structures that have prevailed over the world for long periods. We only need to glance at ancient Greece; the Great Roman Empire; Tsarist Russia, or the so-called Age of Enlightenment, and even the 20th century-a century of misery which saw two world wars and world-wide social disasters. No matter upon which century or location you concentrate your research, the picture will not be appreciably different.
If this is the case, why haven't people succeeded in solving these problems, or at least some efforts been made to remove such social diseases from society?
People have encountered these problems in all ages, yet each time they have failed to find any solutions because the methods they employed were inappropriate. They sought various solutions, tried different political systems, laid down impracticable and totalitarian rules, stirred up revolutions or subscribed to perverted ideologies, while many others preferred to adopt an indifferent attitude and merely accepted the status quo.
In our day, people are almost numbed by this way of living. They readily believe these problems to be "facts of life." They picture a society immune to these problems as being nothing short of impossible-a dream utopia. They persistently and openly express their distaste for such a way of living, yet easily embrace it, since they think they have no other alternative.
The resolution of all these problematic issues is possible only by living by the principles of the "true religion." Only when the values of true religion prevail can a pleasant and tranquil scene replace this gloomy and unfavourable picture, which is doomed to continue so long as God's limits are ignored. To put it another way, people are enslaved by these complications as long as they avoid the values of the Qur'an. Put simply, this is the "nightmare of disbelief" and the link below for this wonderful book:

http://harunyahya.net/popup/Download.php?WorkNumber=256&Format=pdf

you will find how the regulation of life by the "norms of morality" introduced by the Qur'an revealed to mankind by God will banish the "nightmare of disbelief," how pessimism, corruption and social restlessness can be eliminated from society, how the individual can surround himself with an ideal environment, what spiritual and material benefits he is likely to attain by adherence to these norms of morality are gone into in detail, and finally, that the unique alternative to all these problems is the morality of the Qur'an.
So far, many books have attempted to deal with the social and psychological problems societies face. Yet, what distinguishes this book from others is its stress on the most realistic solution. It also sincerely warns people against the troublesome future they are likely to face if they fail to resort to this solution.
We expect that every reader of conscience will grasp that peace, mutual trust and an ideal social life is attainable only by embracing the values of the Qur'an and will turn to the true religion, which is Islam.
They will then happily join the ranks of those who never suffer, mentally or physically, from any of the above-mentioned complications. Around them, there will always be an abundance of favours, comfort, love, respect, peace and confidence, and moral virtues will prevail. They will know how to earn God's approval, by observing His limits and the commandments of the Qur'an. They will thus, by having faith in God, attain His mercy and at last enter Paradise.
