What do you think redneck means?

I get told that I'm a little on the redneck side sometimes. But i dont understand like what that means. I mean dont go telling me that its because i'm stupid & i talk like a hick. I just really want to know how people define "redneck" who dont live in the south. Cause like when people down here call eachother rednecks its just joking around.

personally, i love the term, but i dont really count b/c i'm a carolina girl too. but i cant wait to see what people say. Maybe its because Southern Hilbillies wear overalls and work outside a lot. The sun gets to them. Also, they worked on farms back then.

im from the carolina 2 and a redneck is some one who is country and does stuff the real old fashion way. sometimes they be real crazy and sometimes they r rascist. most of the time they dont use sunscreen because the be red as a tomato

you're a little behind the times or backwards, in a sense. if it walks like a redneck and talks like a redneck.. a redneck in my opinion is someone who loves bush, doesn't like minorities, doesn't like homosexuals, thinks hot dogs and hamburgers are good eatin, wears patriotic shirts, loves nascar, likes country music, follows the bible word for word, wears cowboy hats, has kids while in their teens, gets married while in or right after high school, and lives in a trailer park. there's more but i don't have the time. i would say there are exceptions to every rule but im most cases any of what i just listed would define someone as a redneck. hope that helps.
