All you can do is lead by example. People cant be taught a behavior like that. It is much like diversity training those don't need it resent it and those who need it don't listen. You would be surprised at how leading by example can influence people

Just tell them to think if it was them, how will tey feel if other wasn't sensitive to them.
Tell them that those person did not ask for those handicaps, it just happen, they are human been and most of all it can happen to anybody, or just ask them how will they feel if this handicap pesron was their children or mother or father.? will they ignore them?

By being respectful yourself. Like a previous answerer said, lead by example. And, also, you can't get anywhere by disrespecting someone who is disrespecting others. Also, if you have kids or lead Boy/Girl scouts or 4-H, team up with social workers who care for people with disabilities so the kids can see how people with disabilities are people, too. People can be mean when it comes to people with disablities. For example when i have my little brother with autism, people look at me weirdly and some even ask me whats wrong with him so i say theres nothing wrong with him. All you can do is set an example and treat them like normal people, the rest is up to other people.
