Do Psychiatrists often end up dating their patients.?

Question:
I'd like to date mine.

Answers:
Wanting to date your psychiatrist is perfectly normal-- it's actually called transference (see the link below).

Many people think it's actually indicating that you are progressing along in therapy.

Now, actually dating your therapist is a very bad idea. There should be no sexual or intimate contact between the two of you-- EVER. Even after you've discontinued your professional relationship. There is a power-dynamic that exists between a patient and a therapist, so in some ways it's actually a type of abuse.

Other Answers:
I've never heard about it, I think it's unethical and they will face serious trouble if anyone found out.

No. It is unethical.

it your doctor is a good doctor at all, she\he will not for any reason become involved with their patients outside the office.

Lol, I can see that.because you have to tell them everything and that can be very personal and then you feel very close to them.

But maybe that's a bad idea because, you know, you're paying them to listen to you and they have to, it's not like they're really interested in you?

Uh, I wouldn't date mine.
