does anyone else suffer from major depression and take zoloft?

Question:
I have been taking 50 mg of zoloft daily for a year but I am worried that someday it will stop working can anyone relate?

Answers:
I have been on Zoloft 100mg daily for almost two years. The only time I have problems is when I forget to take it or get slack because I have been feeling good. I found out that you have to keep taking it even when you feel great, because if you stop, you feel really rotten and the depression seems worse than ever. The doctor told me that it is not likely to have to raise my dose, most people do not become "immune" to it, so it is unlikely it will stop working. If you start having depression start to creep in, talk to your doctor and they can adjust your dose. Hope this eases your mind a little and remember.Don't sweat the petty stuff & Don't pet the sweaty stuff."

Other Answers:
I take Zoloft and it didn't work well for me after 2 years. I'd suggest you get a new evaluation and maybe try another medication. Cymbalta works well and has very few side effects.

Yes - I take 100 mgs. of Zoloft, and it works well for me. I've just been on it for 4 months though. Other people I know who take it have said zoloft has worked well for them for a yr. or more. I've not heard of any cases where it just stopped working..
Now - That worries me! If it's working for you now that's what you need to be concerned with. The what ifs never come and if they do you've worried so much about them that you can't handle yourself. Quit worrying about what if someday they quit working. Right now they are working. They can also up your medication if needed later. You're fine. Some day may come and you don't need them.

Take one day at a time and enjoy life now. If you get counseling while you're on the medication, you may learn how to deal with your problems and enjoy life.
