When you eat at night just before you go to bed does it have an effect on the quality of sleep you get?

Question:
or how does that work

Answers:
If it's tacos or chili it effects the lucky one beside you.

Other Answers:
Yes, if it is high in sugar, your metabolism speeds up, so you do not sleep as well. If digest very slowly, such as vegetables, you get a deeper night sleep.
yes it affects how you sleep. sometimes if you eat before bed, your stomach will be upset and can't sleep or you will sleep like a rock. it is not a good idea to eat before bed cause you will gain weight.
Possible nightmares.
Yes. Your digestion system is trying to digest the food. It has a hard time if your mind is trying to sleep.
Food that does not digest properly can come up into the throat while you are sleeping, and if it wakes you up and you gasp for air, you could aspirate the food into your lungs--and that is NOT good! Best to eat 3 or more hours before bedtime!
If you consume, sugar or caffeine it can have an effect that may cause you to be restless. I've heard certain foods give people more vivid or bad dreams. Some people have "comfort food" like decaf tea or warm milk or warm turkey that can have a calming effect and help you get to sleep quicker but I dont think it effects the "quality" of sleep. Eating large meals or alot of liquids is NOT advised because your body may process it causing you to wake up during sleep. Its also not good to go to bed on an EMPTY stomach though. Its best to eat a small snack or drink a small glass of something caffeine free before bed.
yes, dairy products before bed tend to cause nightmares.
sometimes it can give you heartburn
