That is just an obsession, but there is no compulsion here. OCD is an obsessive-compulsive disorder, which is in the category of anxiety disorders. When someone has obsessive-compulsive disorder they have a fear of something and that fear becomes so engrained in their mind that it causes great anxiety. E.G. Fear of germs and unsanitary conditions. Obession: Cleanliness. Compulsion: Washing hands. The person will fear they have touched something full of germs. Then will go wash hands and then will wipe with towel..."Oops, towel has germs! Must wash hands!" They will continue to do this over and over and over again, until they believe they are now safe of germs. It is a dibilitating disorder. What your boyfriend has is just a really strong liking of these bands and may be obsessed with the bands but he has no odd compulsions or fears that drive him to do repeated behaviors due to high anxiety levels. He doe NOT have OCD!
